I don't think there has been anything major in the band program. But, we have had a lot of deaths at my high school. Freshman year we had a guy killed going home from football practice and a kid in my class committed suicide, and Junior year there were 2 girls from the sophomore class that were killed the day we got out for Christmas break in a car accident. And senior year a girl in my class broke her leg playing dodgeball (not too serious, but kinda funny). I've sprained both of my ankles on band trips...my sophomore year I fell off the bus and couldnt walk for about 2 months... and then this year at state band contest I was playing DDR and had to hobble around for contest.

We haven't had any deaths that I know of, but then agian my school is only 10 years old, we're still building our legacy. ;)I did have a rather humorous (and also painful) band injury. I tripped on a curb outside of the band room while we were unloading the band truck. I skidded and bounced across the asphalt, and the sound was priceless, irrepeatable. ;D My legs were bloody, but I didn't rip my pants. We call them my "kevlar pants" now.

Band Camp's finished as of this past thursday, and yesterday I had to go to the doctor because of my shoulder. apparently i almost tore a ligament (or something like that). I'm now out for two weeks. The funny part is, when the doctor told me not to push myself too hard, the first thing i thought of was, "oh no, I have to miss learning drill!"

We had a girl my freshman year diagnosed with cancer... and last summer, several of our band members were injured in a car accident. Then in May, one of our upcoming freshmen was hit by a car. None have died...

I know. I don't exactly how he died. I've heard drunk driver...but I don't think that's true.
At our first game, the "rival" band's color guard captain had died in a car accident a week before their camp. ='[

Not related to my band, and I can't remember just what band it was, but I heard a news story last year about a band's tour bus getting in an accident that killed, I think, 3 band members and the director. I just hate to think about what we would do if something like that happened. Luckily, we haven't had any serious accidents while I've been in marching band (3 years now). My mello section leader last year got in a serious car accident, but made it to practice later that day and was fine. The mello too. Car got crumpled, but... I don't know how that works. We've been pretty lucky.

well as for band related injuries...last year a kid broke a finger playing nerf football at contest...i lost a fingernail and my cousin rondi lost a thumbnail when she was a flag girl...but all we've ever had is minor injuries as far as I know...

I falied Geometry freshman year.... so geometry is evil.
We had a freshman last year- a prop pusher- who broke his leg in P.E. We needed him majorly- we had to use a parent for a few games in his place... cuz each prop pusher had a specific job. It was terrible though.
