Anyone else have trouble with annoying cheerleaders?
They're so full of themselves, at least the majority of them. The pep band has to ride with them to away games, and it's always terrible. They cram us in the very back, along with our instrument cases, an make us sit two to a seat, while they get the front three quarters of the bus and sit one to a seat. They always start a cheer just as the DM lifts her hands, so we have to wait, and always get mad when we play someting "too fast" or "too slow". At the last pep rally, the pep band played the Star Spangled Banner, and the cheerleaders said they were going to present us with something afterwards for going to the away games, but after we played, we got nothing! Can I get a whitness?

In my school, the only problem we seem to have with the cheerleader is that they always start a cheer whenever we're about to play a song at games. We have the whole band go to away games, so we get buses to ourselves, and the cheerleaders usually get the old, pretty much breaking down buses.
But yeah. Other than that and them being a bunch of skanks, we're pretty cool with the cheerleaders at my school. We even cheer with them, and usually wind up outcheering them, which makes their coach kinda mad.

What irritates me about our cheerleaders is that they get to wear their little short skirts to school. And to games, while our pit, who are supposed to look like "rockers" have to tone down their costumes for home games, or people will think the band is Gothic or gang-related. Seriously, its been like that forever.

One of my best friends who moved to VA is a cheerleader, and she's definietly NOT the stereotypical cheerleader, so that's a good thing. But, yeah, the cheerleaders at my school are obnoxious. I don't really know any of them personally, but some are in my classes and they're just annoying.

The cheerleaders and poms team at my school are both extremely annoying. Very few people ever follow the cheers (though the band does get quite a few singalongs to things like iron man), and they're really not very impressive. However, as we don't (yet) have a fall marching band (our focus is in the summer), we only play in the stands at home football games, so we never have to travel with the cheerleaders.

My school is kind of backwards-- the smart people are "cool," and everyone (including the cool people) hates the cheerleaders. Other than the fact that they just have plain annoying personalities as a whole, we don't really have issues with them.

Our cheerleaders are. . .gosh. They LOVE to start cheers at games when we're about to play something! And at homecoming, they wanted us o play something they could dance to for the people there,. so we had people arranging a medley of songs for them. We had about a week to MEMORIZE the piece.
It's really funny when they try to dance with something we're playing and they fail.
I hate that they stole OUR games and stuff, like doing Move The Crowd and some of our band's "signature" stuff. Some things should REMAIN in the band.

^ Like we do this thing called the King Tut, where we all do an egyptain dance sort of thing. It's hard to explain without a video.
Our cheerleaders don't even wait for a crowd response. One of their cheers literally goes "Give me a G-G Give me an O-O Come on everybody, yell go, go."
How dumb is that? They echo themselves.

unfortunately for my school, we have cheerleaders, dance team and pom squad. we absolutely hate dance team and pom squad though because they perform at half time before us and always take up the entire practice field during second quarter when we're trying to warm up. the cheerleaders are irritating, but we can't hate on them because one of our clarinets is also a cheerleader. plus we don't really pay attention to when they're cheering and we want to play.

uhmm yeah they start cheering when we're about to play, but they're so quiet when they first start that half the time our dm doesn't notice and plays over them lol. and besides, they try to cheer over us.
and someone mentioned band cheering over them? yeah, thats us too. we cheer over them, and some of the guys switch them up a bit. there a cheer that literally is just "defense, defense, defense, etc." but half of the guys make it into deFence. (put the emphasis on the fence part, if that makes sense.)
they aren't TOTAL skanks, but they're iffy. haha.

Blah.. I agree. We don't have to ride in the same bus or anything. No one cares about the band that much though. It's all about the cheerleaders or athletics. Mostly FFA.

They are disgusting. They think they're amazing. But they screw everything up. The only song we do stuff with them on is the School Song, and when they're supposed to spell out our school mascot during the drum cadence, they ALWAYS rush. The music starts when the cadence is done, not the cheerleaders, but they don't get that, so they glare at the band for "throwing them off." I would so like to humiliate them. And then there's the fact that many of them probably aren't the most moral people in the world...

Well at football games, its 220 hornline kids versus (idk) 30 cheerleaders. We don't really even have to compete. We're on pretty good terms with the pom squad. All of them are really nice and they give us candy (like a giant box of candy) so we're chummy. It's always fun to mess with the tempo during the fight song to watch them try to dance to it (really really [death] slow =>> super super fast). They perform pre-game and then they always watch and cheer for us at half-time.

We NEVER have a problem with our cheerleaders. And tell you the truth, our band director doesn't see if the cheerleaders are doing something for us to play a song and their coach has yet to complain. We're all on good terms.

We have the 3 different "spirit" groups and then the three different cheerleading groups. The cheerleaders aren't as annoying as the dance teams when they aren't like screaming into a microphone. The dancers on the other hand... It's only the freshmen team that I have a problem with mostly. We're getting hit by their pomp-poms. I understand that they're only first year dancers but jeez, get some control over your arms.
As for the two higher spirit groups, I wish they would just shut up for once. This one time at run through, the band was called to attention and all I could hear was them saying "OMG why can't we do that?" Have any self discipline? Over all though, the dancers/cheerleaders aren't stereotypically mean or anything.
