at my school the cheerleaders and the dance team are so annoying too. they have the biggest egos that i have ever seen. though sometimes i do pitty the dance team because they suck so bad but think they are so amazing. they're just embarrassing themselfs really. and the cheerleaders are usually off with the dancing they do to the band songs. it's so sad. lol.

Our cheerleaders are actually dead serious athletes who love it, and they respect the band as a part of that, and ask our BD very nicely for permission to cheer. Their coach is a *****, but we ignore her because we are still better than them (they took third at state, which is pretty good for a couple of small-town girls). One of them is in choir and is a band groupie

we used to screw with the cheerleaders. They had a song that they danced to and did backflips and what not to...so the director would always start it at a different speed. Or change speeds 1/2 way through. Once they all jsut threw their pom poms down and glared angrily at us

Our cheerleaders are really snotty. I get so sick of them! I made the mistake of being a cheerleader for a year and regretted it ever since. *shakes head*

I'm sorry your newspaper sucks. Ours is just now getting recognized, not to brag, but mostly because of me. I wrote an article about a group of people who go to our games, the Rowdy Crowd, and they all loved it. And by loved it, I mean these people who hate all freshmen walked up to me and complimented me on it personally.
Okay, back on topic now...

I used to be a cheerleader in middle school. I liked it, but the long practices were hard work. That's why I didn't try out for high school. Plus, it's way to difficult to switch back from band to cheerleading at football games. And some of our cheerleaders are annoying. But most of them are nice.

I know some cheerleaders that are nice, but when you put the cheerleaders and the pep band on the same bus, it's not pretty.

ok good lol. I guess I played a team in mid school with a cheer squad. Lol that was a fun game (their C team was a bunch of sixth graders against our C-1 team, who were all eighth graders basically. Their biggest guy was the size of our smallest guy)
My whole purpose for being on this forum is to learn about other bands, so I'm just curious. Sorry if you think I'm being rude, I just want to learn lol. I am interested!

i don't think ur being rude. i'd be weirded out too. ;D in fact, i don't even understand why people force their children into a shallow, superficial sport like cheerleading.

Because they want their kids to be the "beautiful people" and they see it as a kick-start to that, I guess. Or they think that their kids will or should want to be cheerleaders anyways.
Same reason dads force their sons into football or, for that matter, older brothers force their little sisters to join elementary bands/learn an instrument; they figure that everyone should.
