My band has a decent relationship with the cheerleaders. They make us signs, and they even made a cheer for us. (it was so sweet). They also make a point to throw lots of candy at us.
But we have a better relationship with the dance team. They literally DECK OUT our band hall when we have a big contest, and they buy us popcicles during summer camp.

Our band and the cheerleaders do not get along. We are pretty close with the dance team, considering we've got some guard girls on the line and an odd flute or two. But the cheerleaders... we have pep rallies a couple times a year. The freshmen and sophomores sit on one side of the gym, the juniors and the seniors on the other side, and the (mixed) pep band sits against the wall, next to the juniors. So when the cheerleaders do the class chants, they always face where the classes should be sitting, which means the band virutally never gets to cheer right.
The drumline learned two new cadences for pep bands, and they have words that go along with them. The bd was all for teaching the cheerleaders (he's new here), and the band shot him down. Once the cheerleades get anything, they destroy it. They can't even do the School Song right, and that's virtually the only routine they have. They can't even count through the cadence right. They rush it or slow it down, sometimes both in one play. Then the bd gets mad at us for not keeping steady. At the end of the year, he finally got that it was the cheerleaders who kept screwing it up.
I'm so glad that our school is cutting winter cheerleading for a boys swim team. Finally! The pep band will dominate winter sports!

125 cheerleaders? That's crazy. What size of school is yours? We only have about 19. And now, both the band and cheerleaders are working together to help promote school spirit at football games.

That, uh, sounds like a recruiting problem to me. Do you have a 6th grade band?

My school is incredibly clique-y. Most of my band, which is relatively small this year (98), decided that they hate the cheerleaders and that they are incredibly stupid. But I really don't like that they assume that they're dumb (because they're not) and snobs. In fact, most of the cheerleaders are nicer to me than the band kids (which is where it gets really sad). I just wish that they would stop stereotyping and the hate. It really bugs me.

at my school r band is pretty small (40 people about) sometimes when the cheerleaders start a cheer and we were about 2 play we quickly put our instuments down and run ndown to the track and start dancing like crazy and making fun of the cheers by trying to do them badly, it's actually really fun!!!!!

i hate cheerleaders in general but some of our girls are cheerleaders. they irritate me immensely. They are supposed to rolemodels for the school but they aren't they think they can do whatever they want and not get in trouble for it. and if it were actually based upon ability half of them wouldn't get to wear those short, overly tight skirts.

Ok. I have virtually no problem with cheerleaders. Except that they exsist. No one in the band can make cheerleading, because the cheerleading coach hates the BD. And the ones that do are told that they will get kicked off if they decide to march. We have one girl in Color Guard that chooses to cheerlead, and she is NEVER at practice or ANYTHING that we do other than games, and if she DOES show up, she has to leave early or show up REALLY late wearing non-exsistent shorts and stuff. She is one of the greatest people I know outside of either issue, and she is dating my awesome cousin, but it pisses me off that everything has to be that way. Our band gets NO respect from our school. In class after football games, they talk about how cool the other band's show was and how much we suck. Everyone at school does that. Even my family does that. And it isn't true. They're just snobs. Our marching band can't go to contest or anything anymore because there were cheerleaders that marched when our BD got here and we couldn't practice enough. Now no one has any work ethic and complains if we spend more than 20 minutes on the field without a 10 minute water break. And, our school bans the band from playing while the ball is in motion, but the cheerleaders, who have no talent, scream and yell to a non-responsive crowd. Even the student section makes fun of the cheerleaders. And the mascot stands up in the stands. I don't even know if we will have a mascot this year because the last graduated, and he was the inventor of the mascot. We don't have a dance team or anything like that. Band is a big deal now, though, because we have numbers. For a decent sized school, we have 87 people that are in uniform including color guard this year. If our numbers went down, our BD would probably get fired. But still, everyone disrespects us and has no apparent appreciation for the fact that we spend time on the field. I mean, the stands are virtually empty when half time comes along. Ugh. I don't know. Our school sucks in general.

Okay, I deleted my other one because honestly, it was old and made me look really dumb. I for one don't HATE the cheerleaders, but I dont' exactly want to be in their "group" either. I was a cheerleader for a year (dumbest thing I've ever done) and they constantly made fun of the band kids IN FRONT OF ME! they KNEW i was a "band nerd" but they still made fun of us. they all think they're so amazing when really, they're not very good at all. band is a huge thing in our town, so we get backed up by a lot of the different groups in our school like the drama kids and the soccer players, the choir kids, and a couple of the orchestra kids, but everyone who's popular (cheerleaders, jocks, pretty people) call us VERY vulgar names, and think we're the lowest of the low, it makes me mad, but i've heard it's better in high school.... i certainly hope so.

The band and the cheerleaders at my high school are pretty cool with each other, partly because we always have a couple of people who do both. We go along with their cheers and all that, though I like to say that we pump up the crowd and players more, especially considering our volume. Also, it's not the cheering the audience dances along to. I will go out on a limb and say that my particular grade was closer with the dance team (which was actually pretty good), since a lot of the smart and cool girls whom we would know from our AP/Honors classes tended to go there. In fact, one of them was dating a guy in the battery.
