OK you people. I'm starting college this fall at Georgia State University, and I'm going to be part of their first marching band. Since I'm a music major, my courseload = death. Here's what I'm taking this semester. Honors English (3) Applied Euphonium (1) Euphonium Studio (0) Either Wind Orchestra or Wind Ensemble (1) Theory I (3) Aural Skills I (1) Group Piano I (1) Concert Attendance (0) Marching Band (variable credit 1-3) and and Honors Program "freshmen seminar" for 1 credit hour.
All that for 12 credit hours, although if I make marching band worth 3 credit hours it would be 15.

No kidding! I've got
Analytical Chemistry (4) Chemistry Lit&Seminar (1) Gen Ed English: Beowulf-18th Century (3) Psychology: Human Lifespan and Development (3) Calculus 3 (4)
that sums up to 15 I think. I was taking 18 or 19 (i forget if the class was 3 or 4 credits) but I had to drop is cuz Organic chemistry didn't give me the grade I needed. blech.

My brother moved into his dorm at UT Knoxville today. He's on the 11th floor and has a really nice view. I'm jealous. I'm on the 2nd floor of my dorm and the only view I get is the dorm next to mine

Ninja, you're back! @bandman nope, I'm taking 13 hours this semester and then 6 or 9 in the spring to finish up my BA. P.S. I got married!

My band gives its first performance of the year, an exhibiton, tomorrow. Roll Tide! Fall schedule: OChem 1, 3 general engineering classes, intro to ChemE, German 103, Film History and Crit (evidently music is not a fine enough art for core credit...), and The University of Alabama MILLION DOLLAR BAND! (I'm double majoring in Chem and Chem E, and taking a semester off of calculus because I got a 5 on the BC exam, but it and I still need to talk a few things out.)

Thanks! It's fun, another senior in BUGWB got married this summer too but my section still refers to me as "the married one."

I have friends in BUGWB, I just remembered. Do you know Aaron Menke? He's a percussionist and should be a junior... Edit: And I don't know if Hannah Mulikin is doing BUGWB or not, but if she is she would be in the flute section.

Aaron Menke sounds familiar but I know very few of the drum line this year, they all seem really young. I'm guessing he would be music ed? In which case he probably only marched the last 2 years since they are only required to do 2 season and then most drop it for ensemble stuff.

Well, I know he marched Crown this summer, so I am thinking he would march if he at all could. He might be in pit, marimba's kinda his special dish. I think he's in ed. Not 100% sure.

We don't have a pit It seems like most Texas 1-A bands don't, aside from Tech and I'm not even sure if they have a pit (I think they do because I recall their latin show having timpani) I bet he's in the percussion ensemble. My former lab partner would know (he's a senior in it).
