Weird that they require sophomores to live on campus too, mine tries to kick us off (I was offered 2000 towards tuition if I found an off-campus apartment a week before class start.) Also that you guys figure this out so late. I signed up for my apartment (same complex but a different apartment) back in October with a fellow flute.
If you have a feeling you wouldn't get along, don't risk it. Against my better judgment I agreed to room with a girl from my hall last year. She kind of annoyed me but I brushed it off as silly. Now I regret it. But I haven't had the best luck with random roomies either... (this year's has loud friends that are over until 2am, and doesn't take out the trash, even if it's overflowing, last year's snuck her boyfriend in and would let him stay over if I wasn't home in time.)

huh, KU doesn't require anyone to live on campus, but i'm choosing to because i like the convenience and my parents don't want me in an apartment yet. i'd say if you really don't think you'd be comfortable with this girl, you shouldn't do it. my roommate that i was originally assigned to this year actually got a switch because, according to her, we're not "socially compatible". she's in a sorority, and i'm not (well, tau beta is technically a sorority, but we don't like to associate ourselves with the social ones ), so she comes to me about a month into the fall semester and says that she's moving in with one of the other sorority girls down that hall and that the other girl's roommate, who is from China, is going to move in with me. i was sick of getting woken up on nights before games, so i just decided to go along with it. meteor (chinese girl) is nice, but next year i'm rooming with one of my friends in the remodeled art/music dorm. i'm currently in the ginormous freshman dorm that has never been updated since it was built in the 60s. we got to choose our rooms for next year back in early february. we even got to request a specific floor within the dorm we wanted the second floor is going to seem like heaven after the 10th

Lprdgecko, if you are having issues with this girls preferences then you should probably NOT live with her unless you think it is something that you'd get over. because let me tell you that nothing is worse than to be a minority on campus (and yes, it is a minority) and find out that your roommate is uncomfortable with you. It comes off very very bad and it does not make for an enjoyable living environment. I think in college you should be comfortable with whoever your roommate brings home, even though you don't have to like the person who's brought home. ya know? But that's just my opinion.
i'm moving into a house downtown with my current roommate and two other guys from my major in less than 3 months. I managed to score a sweet roommate this year (we're pretty much the same person, shes just a couple inches taller).

Slightly off topic but its definitely college related-
I love March Madness!
Thursday evening I'm flying with a contingent of Courtside to Berekely for Round 1 with the Baylor Lady Bears! (apparently I'm weird for calling their male counterparts the "ManBbears" but if the girls are called "Lady Bears" then the boys can't just be the "Bears" so they are "Man Bears"
(In anticipation I'm listening to Caedmon's Call's Ballad of San Francisco over and over, even it has nothing to do with my trip beyond location)

I have a chance to win some money tomorrow. Every year the math department hosts an "Integration Bee" where people compete w/ each other by doing integrals. My Calc teacher is giving us extra credit if we participate, so I'm going to. 1st place gets $125, 2nd gets $50, 3rd gets $25. Maybe I'll win some money? Of course with my luck I'll get a really hard question first lol. math.tntech.edu/ibee/

i was excited for march madness, but as of yesterday, i'm sorely depressed. i've switched my allegiances to baylor, but i hope my bad luck doesn't bring them down like it did KU, Minnesota, and Pitt. on the plus side, Mizzou is out of it, and the lady jayhawks are still in the WNIT

i was excited for march madness, but as of yesterday, i'm sorely depressed. i've switched my allegiances to baylor, Sic'Em Bears! ;D The Courtside group with the womens team had rehearsal during the end of those two games. We were getting constant updates and when it was announced that ya'll lost my director had a fit. Apparently he had Kansas going at least to the final four. We weren't as shocked out our winning This is the first time in school history than the men are going to sweet sixteen. We're having trouble scraping people together to get bands for both teams (assuming we beat Georgetown Women tomorrow evening) as we've never had this problem before.

So I think I have next semester's classes all figured out now. The only thing I don't like is that I'll have to wait at least one semester to take Calc 3 (I am in Calc 2 right now) because it didn't quite fit in my schedule the way I wanted it to... Oh well.
Here's what I'll be taking.
PSY 2010 - Psychology EDPY 2200 - Educational Psychology HIST 2010 - American History I MATH 2010 - Elementary Matrix Algebra (not exactly sure what this is...) MATH 3400 - Intro to Concepts of Math (a.k.a. Proofs. I'm going to die. And it's a Pre-Req to get into Upper-Level math classes, so I have to do well in it. Ugh.) PC 2500 - Basically the same as Speech, but you work in groups for the majority of the time.
Total of 17 hours.

Sorry for the double-post, but I quite possibly have the BEST English teacher at Tech. As if watching a movie for 10 points extra credit wasn't nice enough, she even bought us pizza and Ralph's donuts (a really good donut shop in town) while we watched it. Today was "Shakespeare in Love". Two weeks from today we will do it all again, for 10 more points, but this time we will watch "Lord of the Rings"!

^Jealous
I have most of my schedule figured out (sign up at 6am on the 16th 13th) MWF 1010-1100 The Thought of CS Lewis (ridiculously excited for this one) 125-215 The Emergence of World Civilizations 400-550 Marching Band
TR 11-1215 Museum Education 1230-145 Anthropological Theory (12 person seminar that my adviser is teaching and really wants me to take, I may die, just maybe)
And then my options for my last class (with the prof I want): US History after 1877 MWF 0905AM - 0955AM TR 0800AM - 0915AM (*dies*) TR 0200PM - 0315PM
I'll end up with 16 hours, which puts me right on track to graduate in May '12 (still)
Oh, and women won Monday night, at the beginning we had a 17 point lead (we got into waco at 530 in the morning and still had to go to class)

Directing I Stage Management One of my best friends from high school would be crying about those two. She's a Theatre major at Arcadia. She had to be a SM for a school production this fall and hated every second of it. She's not all that fond of her directing class either. I don't know if that has anything to do with her very much being a character actress.
