Ha. Reminds me of a time when a guard girl took me into the guard closet to show me something. When we came out, my hair was messed up and my sweatshirt was wet. People were surprised by what happened, but it turned out that she wanted to show me a picture then excessivly sprayed me with air freshener

well. Haha, thats guard people for ya. =P at the beginning of band camp some woodwind/guard girls told me, never date a trumpet player- theyre dirty jerks, cheaters, idiots, overly conceited and they break your heart. yeah sure, i told them..and since its just a stupid stereotype i dont effing believe it, so they can just suck it and date their sweet, awesome mr. perfect. and plus, the mere instrument a person plays can't affect your relationship. i mean, what the crap. i also thought they were just being beyotches to me, saying how i play a certain instrument so no guy should date me..but eff it, i dont care what some stupid girls say. The relationships i personally had with people in my section were perfectly fine. so yeah. Thats another thing i hate to hear people say about a certain section in band. I mean, its just band, take an effin chill pill.

Lots of people say that the football players are dumb and full of themselves, and they don't care about the band. But I am friends with a few of them, and they actually love it when the band is there (That's right; when we're there, they always win!)! I think both football and basketball players are really nice.

Yea football players can be amazing. One of my best friends ever is in fact the only girl on freshman football, and she's a really cool person. And one of our tuba players is on the varsity. =] w00t. just during football games he had to be in 'football mode' or however he calls it..lol. he could only march in parades/competitons.

None of the people in my band is on the football team or basketball team. Except one guy; he's on the basketball team. We also have a flute player and she's on the dance team. There's a few people involved in soccer, swim, and also tennis.

We have band kids who play lacrosse. But no other sports really. We have two guard girls who are in choir also (that doesn't work so well)

Yeah, we've got a few freshman in lacrosse, they practice on our marching field. It's kinda strange, you know? I imagine they're out there remembering their sets from marching season instead of practicing. XD
Our trumpet section leader is also in choir, and he's got a really good voice, I was impressed.
@ Puppies- Wow, they actually tried to make you believe that? That's such a load. =D It's their type of humour, I suppose. It's quite loveable. I'm perfectly happy with my trumpet guy; we've been together for at least a year and a half now.

^Yea but i just suggested they suck it. I've always been happy with my section. it's practically my family, and even like the three guys i have dated inside my section, it was perfectly fine. We're all friends now, just things dont always work out perfectly, and if they're seniors now i just wont see any of them for 3 more years if i continue to date one of them. so yeah. its kinda a matter of your year in hs, and how much you like each other, not the flippin section you're in. so i decided to avoid any problems.

90% of our band is involved in sports. Therefore, we are nicknamed the jock band.
Hmmm as for stereotypes, they don't really apply to our school. they loosely fit, but there are exceptions in every case; Trumpets: Random (pretty much true) Drumline: crazy stoners (um...only a few people on drugs. The rest are squeaky clean) Flutes: girly and petty. (98% true. I am the exception along with another girl. I play picc and flute and am thoughly gothic. Therefore I am [as I have ranted on about before] very much hated for it) Saxs: interesting people. Horns: Perverted (100% true) guard: 100% preppy Trombones: see trumpets Baritones: chill. clarinets: Mostly intelligent folk Sousaphones: see trumpets

^Ah that would be interesting to be a jock band. Haha i LOVE p.e. and im taking it my senior year + track so i guess im just one of those kids. so most of your brass section is just random..but yeah i think the horn players are the pervs in almost all bands. lol =]

represent the perverted horn players! w00t. I, as well as the rest of my section, can easily turn anything anyone says into an amazingly perverted joke. In fact, pretty much anyone who uses "that's what she says" cites the 06 mello section, we so overused it.

^Ah that would be interesting to be a jock band. Haha oh it is quite interesting. It's actually another stereotype...they hear that and except us to be all big and burly...we're not ^_^;; But it's also annoying, we can't do compeitions except in the spring because of all the sports schedules. >.<

In my band mos tof the flutes don't practice so they are stereotyped as screaming mimis The Saxaphones are laid back and easygoing the trumpets are bright and energetic
The low brass in generally perverted which was very weird my freshman year because I was the only girl The percussionist are the cool ones who basically have their own jokes and everything in the back of the room

Oh dear. Well, I can definitely tell you now, our trumpets don't fit the regular trumpet stereotype. At least playing-wise.
flutes: preppy, a little pansy-ish (our sign was gonna say "flutes are like boots: they kick butt!", but some people were like, "no. make it something cute and totally lame.") exceptions: the guys, me clarinets: little ditzy, but pretty funny saxes: undescribable low reeds: see saxes double-reeds: see saxes trumpets: loud, wimpy when playing (at least, the ones not in the top band), wimpier when sight-reading trombones: completely perverted euphoniums: band director, they're like a really tight-knit family. they just do all this random stuff, make matching t-shirts ... it's great. I wish I was a euph ... tuba: not exactly all there
I completely go against my section's stereotype: I'm a tomboy, proud owner of a perverted mind, don't talk about guys every five minutes, and I'm a theater techie.
