I now understand why you guys hate Pomp and Circumstance so much. Uggh... Our graduation is this Friday and when my BD figured it up he said we'd be playing it at least 15 times. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

We've calculated at least 40 times playing pomp and circumstance at graduation this year. Ohhhh gosh.
Excuse me while I throw up, pass out, die, and have an asthma attack.

Anything relating to the Armed Forces is evil now.
During marching season, we played an arrangement to honor the late graduates who died in the war. For our spring Rodeo parade, we played a different arrangement of it. And a few weeks before school got out, we sightread ANOTHER Armed Forces arrangement that our BD wants us to play NEXT year during concert season. @__@

Our worst songs are: Jingle Bell Rock - we play it EVERY year at the christmas parade Pomp and Cercumstance - who doesnt hate that song?! Land of a Thousand - Played way too much in our stands Pretty Fly - Played way too much in our stands Lets Get it Started - Played way too much in our stands Take Me Out to the Ball Game - we always seem to play at the new ballpark stadium every year for something like ground breaking and stuff like that.

Dude! I LOVED Sawmill Creek! I was going to do it for Solo & Ensemble but I ended up not doing it that year because my brother has something to do in Columbia (SC), so I was forced to go to it instead D:< How UNCOOL?

I hate Ole. I don't know if it was just our arrangement, but it killed. Our section leader told us to never play it in practice to save chops. He got into many an argument with the DM and BD, but we never had to practice it, and it was fantastic~

Final Countdown- Trombones play wholes. And maybe one half. The whole song. Get Ready For This- Dumb and cheesy sounding. Birdland- Just evil. Impossible for baritone, and confusing for trombone. Our Alma Mater- Never stays together, slow as crap, and boring tenor brass parts. Tuba is fun. Shout- Death to all that has a slide or more than three keys. The Hey Song- Different for EVERY band. Star Spangled Banner- Pretty, but never EVER played right. Time Warp- Saxes FAIL, Baritone is fun, Trumpets ALWAYS rush the melody, tubas NEVER play the right part, and Trombones have TOO MANY SMURFING Eb'S!

Hope y’all don’t mind that the “ancient drummer” adds his two bits in. From 35 years ago…
Orchestra, timpani, “Clair de Lune” Had an 80 + measure rest, 2 notes, another 70+ measure rest and one note near the end of the piece. Ask for a cue from the director. Answer “No, you got nothing better to do so you can count!”
High School Marching band, stand tune and sometime half-time/pregame show tune (we had 5 different halftime shows, one for each home game), “Once in love with Amy”. Our Drum Majorette for 3 years was an Amy. Yes she was “easy on the eyes” but we must have played that tune at least three times every game. It is an OK tune BUT it is like Pomp and Circumstance, OK only until you played it 300 times. Some did not like “Hogan’s Heroes March” but then they did not have big parts in that.
Concrete Band, "Overture to Candide", sixteenth notes, in un-rhythmic runs, written in 4/4 counted in 1 where 1 was at 120 to 160. No, a drum roll would not work. Tough on a 9th grader who was use to having nothing faster than one quarter note equals 120.

We skipped over Sawmill Creek in 6th grade One song our band despises is YMCA. Every time our BD tells us to play it in the stands everyone goes "UGHHH!" and every time someone suggests playing it on a day when we have a sub everyone screams "NO!!" and tells said person to shut up We also played this song for the spring concert last year, On A Hymnsong Of Phillip Bliss, and it was pretty incredibly boring. Sure, it sounded really pretty, but I didn't enjoy playing it.

I really HATE playing Pomp and Circumstance, or as our band calls it Pump and Circumsize, haha. That is the worst song EVER! I hate playing it over and over and over like 20 billion times! Another horrible song is Hang on Sloopy! I can't stand it.
