My JH top band did Variations last year. One of the fish claris was on first part. It's freaking hard...

^ WORD.
I hate Sousa. To be honest, I didn't really mind him all that much before I started playing horn in band, and had nothing but 2 pages of upbeats. And then to have to play those same upbeats for the ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR... ugh.

the band has this thing against the obvious stand tunes, like "Go Big *color*" and "the 'Hey' song." We never play either of them, and we tend to shout 'boo' instead of 'hey' when the other band plays "the 'hey' song".

Carmina Burana. It's a great song, but it's so annoying to play. At least, in my band it is.

It's epic in vocals though. We marched it this year.

We don't really hate anything as a whole except for our fight song and Pomp and circumstance. We have 800-900 person graduating classes. Excuse me while I die.
I don't like Green Onions at all though, personally.

ENGLISH FOLK SONG SUITE is pure evil. The same goes for Pomp and Circumstance.
And my band may be weird, but we actually like Sleigh Ride, and this year is the first time we've ever played Malaguena, and it's gone over pretty well. I'm just wondering why everybody hates them so much.
As far as stand-tunes go, I don't really hate most of them-except when the BD had the low brass play "Another One Bites the Dust"-words cannot describe how much I hate that song, and we're all hoping he doesn't let them play it this year.

I love, love, LOVE Variations on a Korean Folksong. We played The Tempest in seventh grade. I hated it so much. >.< I hate Land of 1000 Dances. And the Final Countdown. Rites of Tamburo (however you spell it)--Hate it with a passion. How can you hate Rites of tamburo!! It was a highlight of my early band life Add to the hate list: A Day At Disneyland-specifically- It's a small world ANY pirates of the Caribbean song Percy Granger-makes flutes look at music and cry

Rites of Tamburo is an awesome piece...then again I come from a band that worships Robert W. Smith as God, so we're biased.
