Little off-topic but here's some valuable advice for you guys: NEVER EVER march without socks in your dinkles. I marched like this for a single practice in October and about 4 months later you can still see the cut marks.

We had a guard girl pass out last year, the one time the guard had to stand at attention in the style of the rest of the band.

Well, mine isn't really a band injury, but it is effected by band. I'm in Cross country and sprained my ankle at a meet then marched on it the next day. I had to wear a brace on it for the rest of marching and running. it sucked!

^ Braces are really good for bad tanlines. I had the hottest bandtan with my two knee braces. Edit;; I just found this pic that was taken a good month before the season was over. I'll let you guess which one is mine lol.

i ended up with osgood Schlatter disease at the last competition i got run over * and i mean he hit me in the back with his bass knocked me over stepped on my back and hand* by the bottom bass. his foot slipped off my back though. the next time we ran the show he got too close and my flute got caught in his drum and the end piece fell off and as he passed he hit me in the head with the drum LOL i got stuck in the mud getting on the field. I got a concussion after being run over by the bass drum for the third time *and ended up dating him that night* i fell off the bus and hit my head on a car... i fell backwards * just lost my balance* and got a 3 inch long cut in my hand that's all i can think of for now.

^Oh my gosh. That sounds REALLY painful.
My friend was tossing her sabre, and she accidentally dropped it, and it bounced back up and hit her in the nose and she got a bloody nose for a while.

after a halftime performance at a game, i was walking off the field when suddenly i see my friend holding her arm, looking okay to me. but then through slight laughter , she said, "i broke my arm!"
she couldn't play for about a month, but she still marched with us either way. however, by the time the next field tournament came around, her arm was healed and she could play again.
another night, one of our...well, bad marchers crashed into another band member. i didn't see it, but our drum major said it was funny.

We were in the middle of practice the day after a really hard rain, on a grass field, and there was a ditch right in front of the sideline, and people had to jump over it to get on the field. We were practicing marching onto the field playing the fight song, had been for about 20 minutes, and the trombones were getting bored... So two of them decided to get a running start. Bad idea. It almost seemed to happen in slow-mo, as if they had planned it... One slipped on landing, the other crashed into him and they landed in the full ditch. Ugh. The first one sprained his ankle and pretty much killed his trombone. Needless to say, the director was NOT happy. Irate is a good descriptive term.

A guard girl fainted once during practice. And another time, a clarinet hurt her ankle while she was playing outside. Can't remember anything beyond that. Today, a stand fell, right where a freshman trumpet's seat was. The trombone guy's face was and another trumpet said, "You're lucky no one was there," and a junior trumpet exclaims, "--- was sitting there! If she'd been there, we'd have one less freshman to worry about." Then he turns to me, because I was watching, and says, "You're next."

A trumpet player knocked a stand over and nearly hit a bass clarinettist. I was like, "nice work, _____! A little bit closer, you could have hurt him!" And it was the second time in 2 weeks he'd completely spilled his music all over 2 counties...

Well, I twisted my ankle the first day I was working on slides (go figure) I also got pinched my my sax keys once during sectionals. I also abhor playing in the fall because its cold and windy, and all I get are torn lips. Did I mention I got a splinter on my lip once because of a reed? (but I was a beginner so it hasn't happened again) There have been a couple of heat related injuries and there was one day in summer band where it was hot, airless, and no sign of clouds. Everyone kept going to the sideline complaining of headaches but our director insisted that we get used to the weather, seeing as we were worse off in our uniforms during contest (black polyester) Then, all at random, as my drum major was coming down form the podium, HE FELL! Thank god for grass, but he blacked out and sprained his ankle. Now he's known by our band as [Drum] Major Klutz. Don't even get me started on contest!! When we went to Bands of America for the first time, 4 people got nosebleeds and during pre-performance practice, A color guard threw up a rifle and hit a band director!! We have way too many crazy people in out band... =]

Wow i've been lucky my top two were 1) marching the show twice in 100 degree weather with a 104 fever.I had to rely on muscle memory to remember half of my spots and threw up between performances. It dosent help that we have 13 year old uniforms made of pure wool.2) I took nyquill befor a practis (ours run form 6-9 PM) and had to stay awake for the entire thing.I really wanted to kill th Dr.Beat because it was giving me an awful migrain ,people thought i was gonna throw up from it.
The band has had a few memorable ingurys. My gaurd friend was beaten as a baby(she adopted and lifes good for her now)which resulted in some brain injurys ( you wouldnt be able to tell, she just has a hard time with academics) anyway she's amazing at rifle and has a huge pain tolerance. She preformes with torn ligaments in her elbow, sholder issuses(her doc thought she was a swimmer)and has little cartlage in her knee and ankle so the bones grind. The gaurd has their own little theme song -The Ace and Ice song-because half of them are consistantly wraped in ace bandages and ice packs.
