Just today at winterguard practice I got konked on the head by someone else's rifle and brained myself twice with my flag pole, among other things.
I can't seem to go a summer without getting big yellow sunblisters somewhere, be it shoulders or back- I'm sure I'm getting skin cancer. ;-p
Our 5 drum tripped while running back to his set last year and had to get a bunch of stitches in his jaw.
Fun times...

There was one kid at camp who locked his knees...
Let's just put it this way: it looked like he was leaning down to adjust his music stand, but he kept going.
Yeah, he passed out. And then at the end of the season a girl passed out minutes before a parade, but we still don't know why0.0

Not sustained in band but I had to march saxophone (I play baritone) because I broke my elbow in a car accident for the remainder of the band season at IUP.
I have had so man injuries in band/corps. My biggest being a stress fracture in Crown 06. I've also marched with pneumonia, bronchitis and food poisoning. (not at the same time) butyeah, i dont think there has ever been a season where i havent at least gotten sick once.
But ive never missed a practice!

^ now that is dedication ^_^ One of my friends has marched with a mild concussion. She fell down the loading dock and hit her head on her marching bell set. Needless to say, the BD now has full rights to call the Percussion the Concussions.
and we've had a trumpet in the past few years break his nose and loose a few teeth from not dropping soon enough in what we call the Trumpet Guillotine Death Squadron.
Anyways, the worse injury I've had isn't bad, I just slipped down the steps leading off the bleachers and had a loverly black, blue, purple, green yellow bruise on my tailbone. Twas quite funny though, but the band booster president, BD and ABD didn't really share the same opinion. I've scraped up my upper lip from snapping my picc down too close to my face and the serrated edge of the tuning cap got me....the lil nasty bugger.... I've also gotten hit pretty hard by a quad mallet during attention. We were a realllllllyyyy tight position for an opening move, and the DM called us to attention. The drumline hits the rim of their drums as hard as they can before we yell back, and the quad next to me missed the rim.

During band camp last year, it was so hot! I'm sure all of you could have said the same as well. Anyway, it seemed like everyone had turned into a bunch of thirsty camels, because we went through 3 cases of water a day! And everyone had severe sunburns (except me, cause I brought sunscreen). By the end of band camp, everyone's complexion went from a pasty white to a bright orange. It was intense!

This isn't necessarily a band RELATED injury...but
trumpet member trumpet sectional game of touch football in the street
Ended with an injured kneecap, a knee brace, and sitting out for a few weeks. We didn't wanna tell our BD exactly how he gained that injury...

I've had a lot, LOL Less serious at band camp, when we had a horn snap, and my friend next to me elbowed me in the face...
The worst I've had [and it's still going on], was during our very last show. During it, I felt a nerve snap, or just really bad strain. Basically, my carpal tunnel got five thousand times worse, and I've being seeing doctors all break, and I have another one next month. Just kind of hoping surgery doesn't really have to happen =_=

Most of these aren't because of band, but marching surely didn't help them...
Freshman year: 2 weeks before band camp, partially tore a ligament in my knee a horseback riding jumping accident... marched a whole season with that.
Sophmore year: knees = royal pains. The pain kinda spread to both knees since for all of frosh year, I would put all the weight on the right knee to save the left knee. Not smart.
Junior year: Bilateral quadric sublaxion patellar tendonitis. Marched the show a record of 4 times in the last 4 weeks of the season to save my knees. It wasn't pretty. About a minute or two into the show, I was almost crying. It didn't help that the mellophones HAULED it in the show. Multiple times we would just put our horns down in parade rest and [jazz] run.
Senior year: Trumpet player cut me off during a scatter and I folded on my right knee. My poor, poor brand new mellophone took most of that beating. God, I cried forever once I saw my bell. It didn't help that my abd told me later that in drum corps, they sacrificed themselves over the horn. It just happened so fast... Thank god it was on grass and not the parking lot (where we are 98% of the time). But that was painful. And I didn't have a "layoff" day and had to compete twice the next day. And now we learned that my knee and (to add to the laundry list) hip pain this year is caused by either arthritis in the knees and bursitis in the hips (caused by the arthritis in the knees), OR, a degenerative form of chrondomalacia resulting from a lovely case of patellafemoral syndrome. My rheumatologist and OS can't seem to agree on anything lol.
Wow this list is wayyyy too long. Props to you if you actually read it.

^Wow that's pretty intense. Yeah, I think there need to be marching band doctors the way there are flight surgeons because they would understand that not marching isn't an option, the way flights surgeons know that messing with a pilot's ability to fly isn't an option.

Okay, this isn't really for band, it's for drumline, but close enough. During the last piece of our show, the battery runs behind the pit, puts down their drums, and take trash cans out onto the court. Three of the pit members, including me, are supposed to grab two trash can lids each, and run out and hold them in front of the drummers. We did this for the first time last night, and I came out hurting so bad! The snares I was holding the lids for decided to hit right in the center where I was holding it up underneath. My knuckles were bleeding, and it looked like I punched a wall.

I don't think anything that intense has happened to anybody in our band so far...

Suddenly, dying in a marching accident doesn't seem all that unlikely.
