This is true, even the bagpipe thing. Kidding, they are the most atrocious instrument ever. Who ever invented them obviously did not realize that the terrible intonation would torture musicians for generations. The Scots gave the Irish the bagpipes as a joke. The Irish haven't gotten the joke yet. ;D

Duel is good. She's set to graduate this year, so of course it's busy for her. She's still working on learning to play every instrument under the sun. I think bagpipes are next. (Kidding.) She's going to college for music education next year. This is true, even the bagpipe thing. Kidding, they are the most atrocious instrument ever. Who ever invented them obviously did not realize that the terrible intonation would torture musicians for generations. There is a man who stands in the creek flood zone across the street from my dorm who plays that obsessively well into the night whenever the weather's decent, which since we're in Texas, is pretty often. I do like it... rarely. And not when I'm trying to sleep/study/paint/watch a movie.

I've come to find me frequenting the Games board more than the others lately. =) Me too... Since I'm no longer in band, I feel like I don't have much relevant to say. I'm no longer in guard either, so I feel a little weird posting there. Heck... when I welcome people in their intro threads... I dunno what to say. I USED to play flute and be in guard.

^ Sounds like a nightmare. Haha, Oliver Herford was right about the Scots not getting the joke. That's my family's favorite quote... we're all pretty much established haters of the bagpipes. Though I will admit that they can be nice, it's just that the average person can't make them sound like much more than a cat getting hit by a truck.

Being from a high school whose mascot was a Highlander (read: every time we performed pregame, it meant accompanying three bagpipers to "Scotland the Brave"), I could care less if I never heard another bagpipe in my life. They are the sound of hell, devised as a torture device for sane people who don't have the mindset to listen to them willingly in the first place.

^Indeed. We play a school that has 2 bagpipers. They play their fight song and then The National anthem because their band isn't big enough to be heard....(they have 8 members)

If you play bagpipes for Edinboro University of PA you get a full-ride tuition And thanks to whomever stated I was a respected moderator. I never think of myself as that but I guess it's good that you all think that. I try ..at least.

If you play bagpipes for Edinboro University of PA you get a full-ride tuition I'm pretty sure that is true, or at least you get a huge chunk taken of your tuition. One of our bagpipers went there for that reason, but I know she had other scholarships (leading me to believe it is not a full ride). Regardless, people in the Northeast who play bagpipe, definitely check out Edinboro, haha.
