Ah, the memories of the first ever RVT...
Saxgirl, it is weird to see your class dissapearing...when I first joined, people like you, Baker, Kes, and Duel were like....the experienced older kids who taught me the ways, you know?

You know, it gives me this cocky sense of gratification to hear that. If I accomplish nothing in life, I can at least say that I was a mentor on an internet forum about marching band. But it does feel like that, like we were eventually stepping into the shoes of the old veterans, which is pretty cool. I've never felt so close to a group of forum people in my life (but then again, I tend to come and go with other forums). We have an interesting dynamic here.

We do, I was trying to explain the forum to my boyfriend (we spent the entire drive up to DFW talking about forums, such geeks) and he couldn't quite get how we could get so close. He's a top poster on his forum and he could count on one hand the people he knew on it, much less had a conversation with outside of the forum.

I too have tried to explain TFBC to others... and have also failed. We're just such a tight knit group here. I talk about my friends here just as easily as I talk about my college friends. But really, I feel that few other boards have such a dynamic group of people who are bound together by such a powerful thing as marching band. ha, I remember a time when I was a newbie here. and I was worried that I would never be all that well known.

KES and Duel!!!!!! I wonder what happened to them? School probably. I think I have one of them added on myfacespacebook somewhere. So I'll have to message them and tell them to come back to tfbc.

KES and Duel!!!!!! I wonder what happened to them? School probably. Yeah, school pretty much sucks my life, ha. I still post, but it's much more infrequently... I feel like I don't have as much to say any more, or someone beats me to it. Duel is good. She's set to graduate this year, so of course it's busy for her. She's still working on learning to play every instrument under the sun. I think bagpipes are next. (Kidding.) She's going to college for music education next year. Music SciFi Girl is still in her college, still playing flute, and still majoring in performance. I think they both shadow here once in a while. And if they are reading this, they should post! As for me, I'm hitting the books hard in my first year of college. I'll probably be majoring in Chemistry or Engineering (Nuclear or Chemical), depending on future experiences and how my schedule can fall. Pre-Med has been basically ruled out- I'm sick of Biology, pulling a "C" for the first time in my life, and I'm thinking of dropping the class. It sucks. But band is great. I play flute in the concert, marching, and pep bands, and hopefully I'll continue that. Honestly, if I drop band, I'll be ending a 9 year streak. Seems kinda stupid to stop.

I feel like I don't have as much to say any more, or someone beats me to it. I've started to feel that way too... it's like well now that I'm not in high school band, that rules me out of like 90% of the posts.

I have been raised from the dead by the_sousabone. Wow, this thread takes me way back. I remember I joined this forum during (or before?) band camp my freshman year, though I know I lurked for awhile, too. I remember having the old format for a long time, then becoming addicted and nearly dying when the boards were down during the switch. Haha, the Estrogen Room was classic. And FriedRice and DorkySax... man, they really need to come back! I remember haunting the Venting Room almost constantly my freshman & sophomore years... and a lot of last year too, lol. Geez, I'm like a million times different than I was when I first joined here. It's crazy. Duel is good. She's set to graduate this year, so of course it's busy for her. She's still working on learning to play every instrument under the sun. I think bagpipes are next. (Kidding.) She's going to college for music education next year. This is true, even the bagpipe thing. Kidding, they are the most atrocious instrument ever. Who ever invented them obviously did not realize that the terrible intonation would torture musicians for generations. we played Central Michigan this year and I was like, "Wasn't there a trombonist who went there?" I couldn't remember if it was CMU or EMU. It was CMU. Being in the same state tends to make you remember these things. Yeah, she (ittybittybone, wasn't that her name?) has been gone for awhile now, geez. People need to come back.
