Wow, 30 people trying out for guard? We have 3 people returning next year. The tryouts were the other day, and I peeked in the band hall after school to see who was trying out. Only like, 2 people were there

Hm. Not entirely sure how many guard we have or how many tried out, but knowing my school, we have a lot.
(Ha, I'm such a band geek ... the day we got the music, I went on iTunes and found the first three movements. Pretty much have them memorized, except for a few sixteenth note runs here and there and rests.)

We have our music now... They started writing the drill on Thursday. I actually have most of the 3rd already because we got the score that it was taken from to direct for DM tryouts and I played with it when I was bored...

The way my band director works, we won't have the music til halfway through September......well, I hope not Sophomores? The thing about high school is: no one can really tell by looking at you what grade you're in. In most cases anyway. So, if I act like a section leader (because the real ones won't) the freshies who don't know me will think I'm older until they find out I'm not. Which means power!!!! HAHAHAHHAHA!!!! okay, maybe not.....but it's worth a try.

Just don't piss off upperclassmen in the process, and DON'T let them figure it out for a while because then they will disrespect every other sophomore even more. Our sophomores last year were pretty cool because they didn't treat us as though they were upperclassmen, which is the classic sophomore mistake.

I'm scarred for life. I'll never be able to stay sane w/ needles ever again, if I ever was. I had to get tetanus booster today, and I had a weird reaction to it that basically made me go temporarily slightly deaf and blind, and pass out. Not to mention the extreme pain and headache and fever and nausea, all within a matter of minutes after the shot, and then hearing far off voices about your lips being as blue as your dark royal blue shirt as your limp body is being put into a wheelchair. Then, when you're finally "back to normal" they make you come back because you're turning blue again. I never liked needles, and now, I don't know if I'll ever be sane about them because that was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me. I mean, I know there are people that have had worse things happen to them, and that makes me feel bad about me freaking over this, but it was flippin scary for me who's never broken anything, been hospitalized, or has any allergies to have reactions to. Anyways, that's my story for the day.

this is such a random thread.
Then again, Sophomore is the same mor as in moron. (I kid you not, they're both from the Greek "moros", meaning fool).

Yes, indeed. And the more is the fool part lol.
The way I see it, we have no restrictions the way freshmen do, but no responsibilities the way upperclassmen do.

Sopho- learning Moros- yeah, moron... "Sophomoric" is defined as one who thinks they know a lot but really doesn't. For many of last years sophs, that was SO true. For just as many, it wasn't. So we just have to make sure we're on side B. (Either by ACTUALLY knowing a lot or being unassuming.) Heehee I have more posts than Matt... what is he doing on the sophomore thread? (kicks Matt out)
