well, we do stretch, we sweat, we havce to change out after school just like you would when you are in Gym, we do get hurt[believe be we had a lot of pains last year]. We perform on a field, we have compete! I look at it almost like competive dancing...[yes thats considered a sport] just we march and do some othere funky moves our BD likes to throw in there Its low on the sports-todum pole but its a 'relaxed' sport.... i consider it a sport...ya'll maynot..but i do

i know i posted already saying it is a sport but i changed my mind... It depends on what school you go to. in my school it is not a sport nor should it be concidered one. we do nothing active we dont have to run or do pushups or ne thing like that. however some one from a nother school can say it is a sport cus maybe they run and actually do something physicly demanding. but i also think that just because something is hard and you put a lot of work into it doesnt mean it should be concitered a sport... i mean should math be concitered a sport?

Blonde, did you even bother to read the thread? And at least make an attempt to back your statements. *edit* well, we do stretch, we sweat, we havce to change out after school just like you would when you are in Gym, we do get hurt[believe be we had a lot of pains last year]. It's a competition not a sport. Two very different things.

Its a game like everything else...every sport is a competition, to see who can win, to see who is the stronger team, to see whos the BEST!! Sure, it can be a competition. But the thing that makes that a sport is that you can physically see who wins. Both teams are on the field, battling it out to prove it's the best. It's not about the physical activity, or anything of that nature. There's rules, guidelines, and whatnot. Like I said before, with band competitions, it's based solely on personal preference. With band you cannot see who wins just by watching. I mean, could you really see two bands marching on the same field to see who wins?

there is no point arguing this is there?
The amount of logical evidence why marching band isnt a sport is insurmounablly large......calling it a sport BELITTLES music. I am doing the ayn rand *starts throwing bricks*
Sports have no point to them or meaning. Music does.
Sports have a single function. music has many.
you can kick a rivals A$$ in sports. You cant with music.....you can beat them to pulp, but thats not music related.....not even if you do it in rythem to your field show.
When you win with music. It isnt saying you are superior and "better" then everyone else there. It says you preformed the best.
In music the "i am better then you" is within the ensemble/team. In sports its between teams.
In music only one group can preform at a time. In Sports there HAS to be 2 teams.
In sports your gray matter is just in the way. In music if you dont have it you are inable to preform.
I sweat more in the shower then i do on the field. AND I LIVE IN A DESERT! Marching band is not that physically testing. Playing Music is where the work is being done.
In sports there is one point. Score. And that requires very few subroutines in your mind. In music there is no objective, except to create something wounderful. As such there are thousands of sub routines all linked to a root command. " Do my best"
Music =/= spots. Music > sports.
f you dont get it now. you cant be helped.
