dont feel bad. and dont give up. I used to think marching band was a sport. but if you look at the differences...marching band is better.
and just becuse i have a lot of good reasons dosent mean you cant find reasons why it is. So dont give up, stick to your guns. If i prove right you shouldnt "give up" but agree. and you shouldnt feel bad about it but enlightened.
So find cracks in my reasoning. then throw them in my face. Or find different examples, or resources.
If you feel like you are giving up it means you havent admitted that i am right, or that you havent given your case all you can. I could be wrong. My reasons are all about music. i know there are cracks in the argument i made...im not gonna say where they are though
so dont give up. I respect your opinion. It is just that mine contradicts yours, so i must use my side of the case. I'd rather be wrong.......and it makes me feel all sad when i crush someone in one swift lecture..

A fine post again, alrec. I couldn't have said it better myself.
No offence, Blonde, but you're really hatefull and not really open minded when it comes to this debate. Declaw and perhaps look at it from different angles. You may find a better point to argue if you do so.

merg? (this is me woundering where hateful is coming from.....looks at posts....)OHHHHH!
I dont think anyone was hatefull....then again hate dosent occur to me. An objective study of emotions shows that hate is useless, and serves no purpose. Fury on the other hand is different. Love is true peace, but Hate is not true war. Fury is the escence of pure combat and battle. which in its pure state is rather wounderous. 2 sides one that is wholly destructive, and one that is wholly defensive. There is always a right and a wrong, if there isnt something is being left out or something irrelevant is being added in. Or the problom dosent exist. The question is who is really right. No one is always right, and no one is always wrong....unless they choose to always be wrong.....which means choosing the subjective. Right and wrong are not good and evil. They simply are. in fact both are good, becuse one cannot exist without the other.
The subjective is that which dosent make logical sense. it is "i am going to eat all my pie and have it too!" which translates to " i want to do this but be the same as someone doing this!" A mail man is not on par with a rocket scintest. As such it is not entitled to as much prestiege as a rocket scintest. Just like a Band like Korn is not on Par with the LA philharmonic, or DCI. They are artists yes, but what they do with there talent is what seperates tham. To each its own. that is objectivism for you. Subjectivism is saying a mail man deserves as much glory as a titan of industry. Certinly oth deserve respect. however one delivers mail. One advances human life
Hate is only a way to hinder peace. Fury has a natural place. Hate dosent. Fury is what takes hold of you when you see a friend being picked on. The urge to stop it with violence if the situation calls for it, or harsh words in most cases. I should write an essay about hate.
Fury Naturally moves towards peace. It wants the conflict resolved. Which dosent always mean someone dying. it means justice being appeased.
this is going to be short i promise.
example- Jhonny is walking along and sees sarah, his best friend since kidnergarden being yelled at by devin a random kid.
Jhonny naturally seeks what he sees as justice. His mind has 2 precepts. 1) his friend sarah, whom for the sake of this argument he knows is a generally nice person if a little clumsy. 2) Devin who he dosent know at all really, so devin counts as a null value. The logical choice is to protect his friend. this is becuse there is no preconcieved value stating that sarah might be the one starting a problom.
Jhonny is naturally furious that his friend is being ridiculed, insulted, etc. becuse he knows she isnt likely to have done something to deserve it. The logical step is to intervene and cool the situation down. There is no logical support for jhonny to go and punch devin in the face
Fury as a virtue.
baritoneblues took everyonesfavblonde's reply the same way I did. however i'm kind of like the USA used to be. *ULTIMATE DESTRUCTION!* *cleans up pats on the back and plays nice*
Baritone did a very objective thing, good lookin out.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DCI is on ESPN, after all. your right..dci IS on ESPN AND IM OPENED MINDED..if not i wouldn't have replied to ya'lls comments!!! thank you!! I think not. Your posts suggests that when our statements were putting you into a corner and you had no other reply, you said something to the effect of "Well, marching is a sport and that's that." You didn't even back your statements with examples or try to justify your reply. All your points to argue have pretty much been shot down in previous posts yet you continue to argue like a broken record. It's like you simply brush off our points like our opinion doesn't count. *edit* Also, you took the argument out of this thread and onto your welcome thread. That was below the belt and only proved that you refuse to even think about other's opinions.

Everybody chill out - I would hope we can discuss this topic without having my having to lock it. I think this is one of those topics that's an "agree to disagree."

Here is a re-inactment *Alrec writes a few Pm's* *decides he is wondering what is going on in his "favorite" topic* *sees TFBC'S the last person to post* "cra* im gettin baned" ^_^ I have no problom to agree about disagreeing. After all its better then disagreeing about agreeing. Plus truth does not require defense. My knowledge does not require there acceptance to be true. One last point, then i'll take my leave of this topic. You could get everyone in the United states to say, for instance, that the atomic weight of mercury is 198, no matter how many people you get to say it, or how many stations broadcast that....that doesnt make it true. The atomic weight of mercury is 200.59 AMU courtesy of www.ask.com DCI being on ESPN makes it as much a sport as if ESPN was to air national geographic. Just becuse they focus on sports does not mean they cant air other things. to settle the argument, Marching band is not a sport, it is a competition. Like golf. Sports are where you win by being better then the opposing group. A compitittion is when you are the best. which means you preformed the best, and the other players/preformers did not preform as well as you. In the underdeveloped vocabularies of Americans they call competitions sports, becuse they dont know there is a big difference. (finishes driving the last nail in the coffin) Im leaving i promise....my final point has been made *looks at TFBC with puppy dog eyes*
