I practice al the time I've actually gotten grounded from playing my clarinet before My mom said I was "escaping into music" Yeah, that's exactly what I was doing. I was really upset.

how can your mom ground you for playing your clarinet?? My mom loves hearing me play and never get mad at me for playing. it makes feel so good if something is bothering me.

I love playing, but when I get mad, I can't play. ='( Because if I screw up it'll just make me angrier, and when I'm mad I want to play fast, hard music because I'm all gittery, but then if I mess up I just get really p.o.ed. Once it made me so mad I threw my flute across the room. (Of course, this was like 5th grade before I really loved the thing.) It made a dent in the wall. My parents, thankfully, never asked me about it.

Yeah, I know the feeling. No matter how bad my day has been, band class seems to make it much better. I really know I'm upset when not even playing my bass makes me feel better. =(

Whenever I'm mad or frustrated (unless it's with my instrument), I play clarinet. She (Clairey) is a way better comforter than Barry (my sax). It just makes me feel like there is something I'm good at doing.

when im really down or angry i try to learn more notes and get used to my bassoon...but sometimes it doesnt work...so i start playing audition peices on my flute. I heart my flute it makes me so happy when im down and i somehow get more accomplished when im really emotional

The last show I was in was Apocalypse: Prophecy of the earth, by david gillingham. Anyone know it? Anyway, the ballad is beautiful, sad, etc. I play it whenever I feel bad, and it makes me feel better. Or occasionally, I just play some other tunes REALLY LOUD (I'm a trumpet originally, what can I say?), and just screech the hell out of my horn, and it has the effect of beating your head against a brick wall for an hour, except you're not passed out for as long. :-p I love my horns...

I'd like to say I get comfort from my instrument, but... Whenever I play at home, I get yelled at. So my Alto Sax stays at school (I hate running down to the band room before school starts, because then I'm late to homeroom and then get marked absent.) and my flute stays in my closet. It's not that I'm bad it's just that my mom finds high notes annoying, and nearly 100% of my music is un the upper register.

if i'm mad, ive found its better to start off on my soprano clarinet and calm down before i get out my bass. if i'm in a really bad mood sometimes i feel like i'm going to break something, and i don't want to accidentally hurt my bass, since it gets messed up so much easier than my soprano does.

I go and play my oboe, unless I dont have it with me. Sometimes I need a saxophone though. I never play my flute though...it makes me more frustrated, and I really dont know why.

When ever I feel frusterated and just need to chill, I play trombone. But sometimes I will be really out of tune and I will get me madder.

My saxophone definately gives me comfort... it's one of those few things in this world that can make me be truly happy.

haha of course I do...I play piano all the time to express feelings, and then nothing takes out aggression more than playing a drum

Yeah, music is my escape...be it playing or listening. I remember once I was really upset and mad and took my trumpet and just focused it into my trumpet. I've cried and played my trumpet at the same time before...it's my escape...I totally understand
