^ We do candy sales twice for our in country ones. Chocolate in fall and candy in spring. And we have a junk sale in the lobby before one of our concerts that helps as well. The rumored London trip will be the first out of country one ever. I dunno how we're gonna handle it.

Got back from our Orlando one a couple days ago. It was amazingly epic. My head drum major on sugar/whatever she has ... hilarious.

My head drum major on sugar/whatever she has ... hilarious. Why does it seem to me as if all DMs have an endless supply of the happy drug? Does this mean I'll turn into the same sort of thing if I become DM...?

Woo 2 trips right after each other. This year my band is going to Seattle. Which is only 6 hours away, so the bus ride will be better than the 17 hour going to Disneyland. And it's a hundred dollars cheaper! =] We're going on Memorial Day Weekend. This should be really fun. I would never think that I would get to go to these places with my friends...

Last year we went to Myrtle Beach....it was epic. A typical band trip for us is to spend one day doing the band festival and then the other two and a half days doing extremely random things. We've gone to aquariums, ghost tours, Medieval Times (twice), Busch Gardens (twice), abandoned warehouse shopping centers (no kidding), minigolfing, IMAX, gocarts, etc. The hotel at Myrtle was very epic; it had a bunch of indoor and outdoor pools and lazy rivers. Not to mention it was right on the beach.
It's too bad nowadays that less than half of the band goes on the trips anymore. They tend to run over $600 a person and no one feels like paying or fundraising, so every year we come very close to not going.

my high school band went to the BOA super regional in St. Louis my junior year (07) and this past fall too. my only college band trip so far was an overnight in Kansas City when KU played Mizzou. we were supposed to go to the Texas game, but athletics decided against it, and KU didn't get a bowl invite this past season. i do have the Kappa Kappa Psi/Tau Beta Sigma midwest district convention to look forward to in April!

Every year the advanced band at our school (The highest level for my school, a middle school, and the level I'm in this year) goes to Disneyland in January. So we went, and I've never had so much fun!

I dunno what it is about band trips, but I feel like the best times always happen in the hotel. Whether its nearly drowning each other in the pool playing water polo boys vs. girls or staying up until 5 in the morning on the last day or having a bubble bath at 1:30 AM, I feel like we could definitely save a lot of money by just hanging out in the hotel instead of spending 8 hours at a random high school for the actual competition.
