We have a big band trip this year and classes of '10 and '09 got to vote on it. Our BD told us he'd announce the winning destination after we played at graduation but he never did.

Next summer our trip is to NYC and D.C. I'm going to be the contrary band member who isn't really looking forward to that marching band trip. I mean, I've never been to either place, so that'll be a blast, but the drive will be exactly the same trip we took to Boston last summer. I mean, I was hoping we'd go out west or south or north or just not back to the East! No offense to people in the area, but I want to go as many really different places as possible, and the way it works out I only get 2 band trips, and I was disappointed that they're both out EAst. I mean, on the way to Boston, we drove through NY, so it won't be as much fun. That turned into more of a vent than I had expected. Still... it'll be grand, I'm sure. i know how you feel, for (church)choir tour we went to tampa/orlando and for the band trip it was orlando...i knew the band trip was to orlando MONTHS before choir tour so i was kinda disapointed when we were going to tampa/orlando on choir tour, escpecially when the other choice was south carolina and i had never been at the time...o well, both were fun!!!! now just watch choir tour be to D.C. too.

Ours was in March. we spent three days in in Orlando. We marched around universal playing The Edgar Winter Band's "Free Ride". It was fun but marching in humid air in wool is not my cup of tea.

:-O This was supposed to be our "big out of state trip year" but something (funding?) crashed on that so we intead wind up going to San Antonio. Third year in a row for me. So I won't have an out of state trip until I'm like a junior or senior. :-P At least you weren't in high school during 9/11...our band was going to go on a cruise to the Bahamas, but then 9/11 happened so we ended up going to Nashville, TN. I tell you, San Antonio is much cooler.

New band trip for next year: DC!!! We're going to DC via Amtrak to the Inaugeral festival in January and then going to see the inaugeration of the president!!! Itll be awesome! Also only the top band is going because it would be too expensive to take 180 kids on a train. Depending on which person was being inaugerated, I might actually boycott that trip if I were in your band...

(puts on shoes and drives over to the coffee shop to think about the "grass is greener" law)

We're going to Vegas for BOA, we're doing the Disneyland California parade, and we're going to St. George for Red Rocks.

So Ireland was AMAZING! If anyone would like to hear more details just PM or IM me. But anyway my band might be doing another crazy trip. We have been invited to perform in Beijing China in 2010! Whether we will actually be able to go is yet to be seen.

We're going to Chicago in March! I'm excited about it! We were supposed to take a big trip last year, but behavior was a problem. But, under a new director, things have turned around so CHICAGO HERE WE COME! lol
We're not performing there, but we're having a clinic at some music school who's name has slipped my mind! We're also going to do a lot of other stuff while there. I'm excited!
In all, we're going to be gone, I think, 5 days and 4 nights.

If I was in marching band, I would be heading to the inaugural parade in January. I'm actually kinda sad that I'm not going.

I probably mentioned that we went to Albuquerque...God, that's sad.
Next year we will probably go to Albuquerque, Grand Junction, and if we're really good, we can go to (gasp) the Front Range. Wherever the state festival is at.

We're going to Italy next year for the New Year's parade, i don't think i can go though. It's super expensive. I wish we stayed in the country, it'd be so much cheaper.

^yeah we do trips every other year too, and they're always out of country. I think my BD uses it as an excuse to get a free vacation to some foreign country haha. We just do sees candy sales, one in fall and one in spring, and then jazz dance, but we still have to pay most of the $5,000, which is probably why i can't go =/. I could buy another sax with that money!
