yeah, most of us on the drumline have nick names bcuz we dont like our names, but they usually relate to our names Skippy - this is our Bass 3 player and he had that nickname when he lived in Oklahoma, so it carried over. not entirely sure how he got it... Shredder - one of our snares, he got it cuz his last name is Sredl (pronounced Shreddle) and we didnt like Jon (his real name) Vee - me, just because my name starts with V and it just caught on Murph - tenor player and his real name is Kennan, which was too hard for people to get right so thus he became Murph Smike - his name is Sean Michael and he doesnt like that, so he abbreviated his name to S.Mike, which in turn became smike Reba - Bass 4 player whose name is rebecca, but we already have a becca so our instructor just calls her reba since we cant shorten it to becca. Fish - former snare player whose last name is Herring that's about it, nothing too odd...

One of my fellow sax players took my name(Nadia) and pronounced it wrong(NAY-dia instead of NAH-dia).
He turned it into "Canadia."

Our director gives us nicknames....I became my last name and my first name with a stutter. We have a tuba player named Tabetha who became Tubitha because we have a drum major Tabitha, and her brother Tyrell who became Karp or Fish because his last name is more interesting than his first name.
I got stuck with the nickname BJ by a senior outside of band and it carried over. Chlonita refers to our saxes, Chloe and Renita. We have two flutes named Carolyn and Claire, who are "Carebear" and "Clairebear", and a clarinet who goes by Katie but everyone calls her her real name, Katrina, because of the hurricane and what not. Uh....our sl was called Fearless Leader for a while.
EDIT: Lol at the dude who calls the dude named Herring "fish". Did he quit band?

I was called Bassoon by many people in high school, particularly because I was obsessed with bassoons and I didn't play it in band. Now not so much, so... because I do play it in band.

A lot of people called out DM "Black man", for the obvious reasons. I just called him by his name.

I was sure I posted here before what oh well. My band does but I think it's a school thing (my nickname in AP Gov is 'Mom' and our teach is 'Sossy' and 'Crazy Next Door Neighbor,' we have a guy who's 'Mother-in-law" as well) But in Band, I'm Knubbsy-Wubbsy (long story, I'm sure I've explained it on here somewhere). There's Patsy (his senior was a major Monty Python fan and had him follow him around with coconuts during band camp, they later had a redwagon joust on the Friday with another senior and his freshmen.) Janelle, the previous owner of his tenor sax was a beloved senior my freshmen year whose name was Janelle. Flossy, the name carries over from her old school. Mostly everyone goes by last names or "Little [last name]" since there's a lot of siblings

I just recently got the name Hyena at DL practice, because apparently I laugh like one... Most people get a lot of nicknames, it's kinda hard to keep track. Our drumline coach called our captain Lil' Hitler because he was marching like a Nazi one day. One of our basses is Ghost, because when she marches, her upper body never moves, which is a good thing, I guess!
