tinypic.com/player.php?v=ncavex&s=6Somebody built an igloo over the weekend and it was awesome and massive (even though I didn't see it in person) and today somebody destroyed it with his Jeep. Sad day. See all the ice? That's how every single parking lot on campus looks. And we still had to go to class....

Soooo.... This is what all the roads and parking lots on campus look like.... And yet I get an email that says "TTU Classes will resume as scheduled Monday, February 1." I hope I don't get hit by a car or slip and fall on the icy roads and sidewalks... And almost every school in the state is shut down, and most colleges aren't starting till 10 or so. Grr. If we had roads like that we wouldn't class for a week. Texans are wimps when it comes to foul weather (except rain, then they have a god-complex and think they can still drive 25 over without problems.) We had an "ice day" last year where all morning classes were canceled, and when I woke up at 9 it was bright and sunny and perfectly clear.

The snow storm hit Friday, and they cancelled school for almost all of the counties in middle TN and TTU cancelled classes at 2 PM. Saturday and Sunday there was a lot of snow and ice. Monday there was still ice, as seen in the picture. Again almost all the counties were closed, including the county TTU is in, but unfortunately that doesn't count for college and we had to go anyways. Same thing Tuesday. By today a lot of the stuff had started melting. The county where my house is got delayed 2 hours. The county TTU is in got cancelled. Again. Jeez.

So, UVA canceled classes for the first time in 30 years today. I actually headed for home, since I figure my parents could use all the help that they could get at the farm, and because one of my housemates was making noises about an "all-weekend house party". Plus, my girlfriend is up at Johns Hopkins interviewing for grad school, and a disturbingly large portion of my friends' plans for this weekend involve copious amounts of alcohol.
The only thing that worries me is that this might turn out to be one of those "shared experiences" things that you're supposed to have as a college student, and that's supposed to bring you closer to your fellow students. However, I'm starting to suspect that this might be a "shared experience" in the same manner a hurricane is.

We just (kind of) announced the new president of Baylor... Ken Starr!

Found out today that my Biology professor goes to the church that I go to here. I was just sitting there today looking around, saw him and did a double-take lol. I didn't say hi or anything though because 1) that biology class has 200 people in it so he wouldn't know me, and 2) it was the middle of the church service when I saw him lol. Not the best time to strike up a conversation.
Makes me a little excited to wake up for his 8 AM class (which is pretty boring). There aren't many Lutherans in Tennessee, and it makes us excited when we find other people who are lol.

The church I went to for 3/4 of last year* was mostly Baylor/Truett seminary profs, seminary students, and grad students. There were, on a good day, 10-15 undergrads. I never saw any of *my* professors there** but I went with my dorm chaplain and most of her's were there. I found it strange since the church had come under so much fire with their last pastor/preacher/whatever title Baptists... which I won't go into to keep the peace here *Before I started going to the church my boyfriend has been for the past 5-6 years, which is also 20-30x bigger, not quite a mega church but big enough ** I purposefully avoided the church my Hebrew prof went to, even though it's right next to campus

Yeah, my professor was actually an usher today at church. We had Communion today, and he was the one telling each pew when to go up. I was sitting on the end of the pew and when he leaned over to tell me I could go ahead up, I looked and was thinking, "Wait a second, he's my professor!" Lol.

yeah, i saw one of my high school's choir directors at the Easter service last year. i didn't say hi though because i wasn't ever in choir in high school. i haven't really seen any of my professors outside of class. i might've seen my bio prof in the Target parking lot, and my speech prof got on the same campus bus as me which was kind of awkward because i'd skipped his class the day before...

^Lol nice.
Campus opened at 10:00 today, so I didn't have to go to my 8 AM Biology class! YAY! And it's opening at 9:30 tomorrow but I don't have a class until 1:30 anyways so it doesn't matter.

^Lucky. I almost fell asleep in all my classes, and the only thing I know happened in my grad/upper level class is that he forgot we had a major Probate Inventory report due Monday. So he delayed it... I think. I think we talked about the architecture of buildings, I'm thinking that's a pretty solid bet since that's all we've been talking about. I recall something about Slave Hospitals... and how King Street became State Street, but I have no clue what city that is or why it is important. Maybe it was Boston or the site of the Boston Massacre. I know I talked about that in two or three of my classes this semester.
Anyone else going insane with tests this week? Between this and next I have a test in every class, two papers due, *and* I forgot I have the Ft. Worth Jitterbug Jam (swing workshop) this weekend so when I'm not eating, or dancing, I'm sleeping, not much room for homework or studying.

I declared my major today. Secondary Education - Math, here I come.
Funny thing is, my boyfriend is in Mechanical Engineering, and we have to take a LOT of the same math classes lol.
