^ lucky, I wish my Mum'd let me open a checking account. It's nice and all, but I have to save half of every paycheck. It's best for me in the long run, I guess.

A checking account would work better for paying for gas (cause I could get a debit card), so that's why I'm pushing for a checking account. Paying with cash is a pain in the rear.

I went to my guidance counselor today to talk about applying early to Virginia Tech, and she said she almost always strongly advises against it, but she's making an exception in my case. Yay! That means I'll find out December 15th when most people haven't even sent in applications, so that'll cut a couple months of stress...unless I get deferred.

^ lucky, I wish my Mum'd let me open a checking account. It's a lot more tempting to spend money once you get the plastic. I never spent my money when it was in my parent's account, but when I got my card...

It's for gas. I'm actually really good about not spending more money than I have in cash.

Whwen I got mine I was even more careful (I'm frugal to begin with), especially when I went shopping for higher ticket items (formal dress, new hunt coat...)

^ not many people from our school gets in and she doesn't want somebody to get accepted, find out that they can't stand the school, and be stuck with their decision (it's binding). But Tech's a good fit for me, there's not really anything I don't like about it, I'm impatient so waiting until April would drive me crazy, and I probably can get in early. *crosses fingers*

I just realized this fell off the front page of the general board, and I think we should keep it alive a little longer...especially until we finish wading through college apps! I'm still finalizing my list and I feel like I'm behind. The problem for me is finding schools with the education major availability I like within a comfortable distance for me. I'm going to sit down with my mentor for a while to figure out what exactly I should prioritize on in a school for becoming an English teacher. I finally have everyone doing my recommendations for me-- last year's English teacher, last year's Psych teacher, and my accompanist who goes to my church and I know really well. I'm taking SAT Subject Tests in November-- Literature, Math (level one, heh) and Spanish with Listening. They (especially the Spanish) should be interesting. I'm so tired of this whole process. I'm not satisfied with any of my essays. I feel like since I want to go into English I should write awesome essays, and I think in a way that ideal is stifling me. Much to be done!

I am (basically) accepted to a college! I got a letter from the honors program at Millersville (last choice but still) saying that if I accept the admistions offer, I should apply for honors college! Maybe I'm reading into it a bit but still!

I still haven't finished college apps. *groan* Finished? I haven't even started (other than the Common Application). I had to fill out 6 different request slips just to get my transcript from the Guidance Office today... how ridiculous.

^ I agree, better yet there's aminumun of 10 day waiting period for them to be sent out....
My one friend gave us a devastating observation.. my class is class responsible for allowing the football team to be for once better then the band! And ex- band geek is even the star kicker! Maybe its an etown thing but this is just horrible to a senior calss to realize.

Anyone have to pick senior quotes and favorites memories yet? We got the sheet, and it's all due October 10th.
It really sucks because the quote can only be 45 characters long. And the one I want to use (the one in my siggy) can only be cut to 69 and still keep the same meaning for me.
It's so annoying! I can only find half-decent quotes that are less than 45. Everything else averages 55.
Here are my choices so far (the pickings are slim): All is well. (12 characters. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, read Harry Potter.) We all go a little mad sometimes. (33 characters, from Alice in Wonderland) Your heart will lead you home. (30, misses something) If you can dream it, you can do it. (35, mostly pointless) All it takes is faith, trust, and pixie dust. (45, I might hate it in five years) It's kind of fun to do the impossible. (38, just interesting)
So, yeah, I have problems. Why couldn't they have made it 70 characters? All the quotes from last year's book were at least that, if not more.
If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
