I want a Buffet R-13 Greenline I currently have 2 Buffets E-11 for concert B-12 for marching You wouldn't use the Greenline for marching, would you? Even though it's made up of 95% powdered grenadilla wood, and 5% carbon fibers, it could still damage the horn. Sorry, I just had to ask. There are a couple of people here who marched with wooden horns...I almost keeled over and died. But it's their horns..so whatever they want to do. I saw somewhere that said that the Buffet R-13 was good for people in either Concert band or MARCHING band...once again..I almost died. Sorry about that.

. AND...I like the Rossi French Bore Honduran Rosewood clarinets. And the Yamaha Custom series clarinets; they have a really good sound. Thanks, I'm happy to see someone likes the sound of a Yamaha Custom... (people seem so against Yamahas and I can't really understand why; they aren't awful or anything if you find the right one and have a good mouthpiece/reed combination- but that goes for anything with a reed and mouthpiece)

i have a plastic yamaha Just got for my bday last june. i could have gotten a nicer wood one but it would have cracked from the marching band so it would've been a waste.

(people seem so against Yamahas and I can't really understand why; they aren't awful or anything if you find the right one and have a good mouthpiece/reed combination- but that goes for anything with a reed and mouthpiece) My friend's private teacher has a Yamaha Custom, and she has a wonderful tone on it. My private teacher (the other lady's sister-in-law..lol) played on it once, and she liked it, and she has an R-13. It's all personal preference, and whether or not that horn is for you. It's the same thing with reeds, just get over the fact that Gonzalez Reeds aren't made of French Var cane, or the Vintage Australia reeds aren't made of the most common cane. If you try them without thinking about what someone else uses, you would be surprised. lol. I like Yamaha's Custom series the best, and their other professional horns, but I don't like the sound of their ABS Resin or plastic horns. Somethings may work for someone, while that something won't work for the next person. My section leader said that she didn't like the Buffet R-13s, but she ended up trying one, and loved it. She was biased towards her private teacher's horn (the Yamaha Custom), just because her teacher plays one. (That was kind of a rant. sorry.) But I 100% agree with you.

I've got a buffet E-11 for my b-flat clarinet. I finally got a new clarinet to replace the really old leaky vito that I'd been playing since fifth grade. And, what do you know, I moved up five chairs.... Go figure :-P I just searched it out, and my Buffet Crampon alto clarinet was made in 1955.... COOL! It's old.... :-D And my bass is an E.M. Winston. No one seems to have ever heard of them.... : : It works well, though.

Selmer clarinet, and some kind of mouthpiece...somethin' B45. Like, Paris-something...yeah... *nods* I've had her for almost two years now, but we did rent-to-own, so I don't know how old she really is.

I've played on one that was fairly decent and one that was absolutely HORRIBLE!!! Vandoren is so inconsistant with the B45s, it's really getting old now. Sorry. But if it's one of the better ones, that's good for you.

I've got a lovely little classic Normandy. Lemme tell you, it's amazing. It always sound "pretty", even when the temp's just gone from like 88-53 degrees in like an hour.

I've got a lufferly Buffet E-11... quite a story behind her too....
But she's been through so much, as soon as I get a job (no one hires under 16 here... *grumbles*) I'm gunna save up for a beautiful new concert horn, and retire my trusty current horn for marching and back-up....

But I haven't played on any other mouthpieces, so I wouldn't know if it's good comparatively or not.

I posted before about my soprano, but i've been inspired to post about my bass. because its a clarinet too! [humor me ] i totally adore my buffet 1193 bass. it's older than i am by several years... i looked it up on buffet's web site. but i forgot hte exact year. anyway, it's really my school's, but it's "mine" till i graduate. and i love it. the low C is so amazing to play. Some of the keys are tarnished to the point of looking like someone burnt them, and it's been abused in the past[think flattened bottom of the bell...] but it's a sweet not-so-little thing nonetheless. the wood is thoroughly dark stained at the top, but as it goes toward the bell in teh bottom joint, the stain seems to fade out and it's browner. i'm not quite sure why. but it's pretty. some of the keys have worked themselves out of adjustment, but not to the point that it doesnt play. if i were to be purchasing my own horn, i might not neccesarily buy this same horn, though it would be near the top of my list. i'd like to try the other brand's low c models- two kids at districts who had low c models had rollers on the Db/C keys, which is something i often wish my buffet had. but i love it anyway. problem is, it's almost too tall for me. without a peg. in some chairs, it is. at graduation last year i had to sit on my foot whenever i played because they had us in shortish folding chairs... my foot went numb in the middle of pomp and circumstance.
ok, done rambling.
