I have a Yamaha CSG with Hamilton keys (a mixture of gold and silver; they look pale gold). I got it January 2005. Bought it from my private clarinet instructor.
I also have a plastic student model Yamaha that needs a complete overhaul; used for marching and pep bands.
What a difference a good instrument makes! :pirate:

I know I have no right posting in this particular forum..
But something just popped in my head: One of my good friends plays clarinet, and her own personal one was made of wood and was butt-old (duh!).. but the case was flippin' awesome... the case was made of (get this!)... ALLEGATOR SKIN!!

my clarinet is the same one I started with in 5th grade, its a not-very-lovely vito... but I only use it for marching band or when I feel like playing it arbitrarily, so its ok.

Mine is a Selmer Clarinet. I can tell you however, it plays really good. Although, I have had to get new mouth piece and pads replaced on it. Oh well. Clarinets rock!!!!

I have a Buffet R-13, with Silver Plated keys..and it really disappoints me that Buffet stains their professional horns. It's pretty and everything, and the wood is of great quality, but I just think it would look a lot better without the stain. So I'm going to talk to my private teacher about having the stain removed somehow. I also have a Buffet E-11. It's just my back-up concert horn now. I don't really mind that the E-11 is stained. It also has sliver plated keys. (It's mad at me because I've only played it like twice in the last month). And I have a Buffet B-12 for marching. Nickle plated keys. I've always liked the Peter Eaton International clarinets. They're really pretty. And I'm saving up for probably a Buffet R-13 Eb clarinet for All-State. And then I'll try to get an R-13 A clarinet. AND...I like the Rossi French Bore Honduran Rosewood clarinets. And the Yamaha Custom series clarinets; they have a really good sound. I also have like this old Selmer kind of clarinet. It's made by Selmer, but not up to par of ANY Selmer I've ever played on. So I never use it.

I just got my new clarinet a few days ago and I like it well enough, though I think the guy gave me the wrong mouthpiece. (I tried the Selmer HS* and liked it but I came home with the HS** I didn't realize it until later). I almost got the E-11. It was between the Selmer I have now and the E-11. Anyway, my new clarinet is supposedly intermediate: a Selmer CL200. I has silver-plated keys and the upper joint has cork pads. I am not really in need of a professional one because, well I'm not going to be a professional. Simple as that.
