I wish we had night practice during the summer. But, we'd have mosquitoes... that would be bad. I guess morning band camp isn't so bad...

Night practice wasnt our first choice ,it makes dinner a hurried nightmare and trying to stay awake to finish HW is impossible. We have night practice because its the only time we can get the field

Ever try to march when it's cold? 40 degree or less horror stories! Here's mine: Saturday all the bands in our district were marching together for a parade. It was FREEZING for the entire warmup time. I could not move my fingers. And when we got into the parade part... no one was marching... however it had warmed up. Our band directors told us stories aout marching subfreezing 7 and 8 mile parades... "Never, as long as I live..." Dear band director. I remember that. All the flutes were huddling, and my little flute circle was constantly clustered. Then when we finally got onto the road ... "What? Heat?! Where were you this morning?!?!" There was this other practice right before UIL. It had been really hot the Saturday before at our game, so those of us who don't watch the weather were like, "Meh." Then it's after school. One of us peeks through the door and says, "HOLY [insert expletive here], IT'S FREAKING FREEZING!!!! AND WINDY!!!!!" I was like ... "@$%$@." So I went out there with a thin jacket, no mittens. My joints froze over and I swear, Neo (my marching flute) got stuck to my face on several occasions. After that same practice, a certain dirty-blonde pervert drummer (remember him, altoclarinets?) came up to me and said, "You girls are lucky you get bras. My nipples are freezing." Well, no duh - the guy wore a thin white shirt and athletic shorts to practice.

IFF... W.M. or T.Y.? yeah that sounds like something he'd say god I'm glad he went to cinco I remember that UIL practice. There's this one kid in our band who's really pale (L.W.'(current 8th grader)s brother) and he got really sunburned- his face was a lobsterzine shade of red. He was wearing the sweatwicking band t that practice, and little else, and after the practice, when the DM's parents were handing out hot cocoa coz no one remembered their jackets (except me and my never-leaves-my-side Bama sweatshirt), his sunburn was... PURPLE. It was hilarious. He was like"well, I guess i survived it' and i was like "yeah, but your sunburn is... purple" He laughed nervously and left with his cocoa.

T.Y. It was quite disturbing. He went on to say that other parts of his body were frozen, if you catch my drift.

Usually our drumline is seperate from the band so we dont have to deal with them.Even when they are in the band(bus trips )they mostly join up with the sax players and stay in the corner

Well........ cold weather. This one game we had. It rained, then the temp dropped and it started hailing. Then it dropped again and it was snowing. So we're wet, and it's cold. We go out to march the show and we get to the first song, and as I bring my trombone down, I rip all of the top layer of skin off the side of my face. But I made it through the rest of the show. It didn't hurt till the bus when I could actually feel my face.

his sunburn was... PURPLE. That happened to me when we went to disney. I walked around for 2 1/2 days in flip flops. I had a bright red sunburn on my foot. So that night I jumped in the pool and it turned dark dark purple. Almost like a royal purple. It didn't hurt after that either.

EW a purple sunburn.I'm lucky in being fairly dark skinned(part native american) that i dont burn so easy and im good friends with SPF 75-it's good stuff. As for cold,us poor cali kids just dont understand what to do with cold.We once had it frost so all our car doors froze shut.Everyone was late to school because they couldnt open the doors and get ice off the windshield.

we were marching outside and it was very cold and some guys in my section started complaining that their mouthpieces were too cold to play on. our BD asked us to play and out of all of us, including our sl, i was the only one who sounded good because i had remembered to bring out my plastic mouthpiece so it was nice and warm ;D

DId somebody say it got to fifty degrees once? When it's fifty degrees here we have our shirts off lol. When it's thirty we start complaining and it's not bad until we hit the fifteen mark.

That's like mid September weather here! Once we hit October we start packing scarves and mittens to game, long underwear comes out right about then as well. 'Course I'm a wimp in the cold so my brother's in shorts when it starts snowing. Which is about late-October. hah I remember for one Santa Parade I wore my marching gloves and 5 socks and had purple hands and feet that night. And that's only late November.
