I did pretty good with my speech today! I actually got one of the highest amounts of laughter and applause compared to the other nine teacher speeches given- especially when I made that comment on Ohio State always beating Michigan. My BD actually stood up and shouted "YES!" and pumped his fist, if I remember correctly.

I had a really good lesson last night. Now if only Alex would learn to go light on the bit and move off my leg and not switch leads every stride we'd be set. And no classes today! And next week is the Mason-Dixon Classic (which really isn't that nice of an A but it's still fun to watch and it's close by) and Prom (not so excited about that...)

I got my marching band music today! Only two other people in the band did, and the rest have to wait until Monday. It pays to be in the band office two minutes before you have to be on the other side of the school.

I got to ride my coworker's big, black, Premarin baby! Despite the ever so slight height difference (I'm 5', he's 17+hh) I do think I looked pretty decent, maybe even spiffy!
I wish I had taped it. I even wore breeches and field boots! I haven't worn either of those for at least a year and a half. I didn't even flinch (too much) at the awkward looks and leers when we stopped by Turkey Hill before we went to the barn.
Forgot to mention this was even in a dressage saddle! What is it with those prissy (joking) saddles having freakishly long stirrups?

the Red Wings just won a shut-out against Nashville. I'm so happy I'm even considering wearing my brother's huge XL (or XXL... or something) Osgood jersey to school tomorrow. another Stanley cup, maybe?!?

Old one locked. New one in. I just changed my wallpaper to a pic of my clarinets! I made a new one too!!! stickshifty.deviantart.com/art/Heart-to-be-Heard-83332166Predators just beat the Red Wings 5-3! HOORAY! I was in Nashville for All State and there were some crazzzzzy drunk people that were celebrating a little harder than what was probably necessary. I got to ride my coworker's big, black, Premarin baby! Despite the ever so slight height difference (I'm 5', he's 17+hh) I do think I looked pretty decent, maybe even spiffy! I wish I had taped it. What is it with those prissy (joking) saddles having freakishly long stirrups? I don't think jealous even begins to describe how I feel right now... lol. Got back from All State yesterday. That was four days of walking in downtown Nashville-- which happens to be extremely hilly. All State was really really fun despite the fact that I was 8th of 12 horns, but I beat 2 West TN kids so I was happy. Oh--- I WON THE GERMANTOWN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CONCERTO CONTEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! They chose four winners this year because they couldn't decide three. But it means that I get a $500 scholarship. And even better, I get to play my solo WITH AN ORCHESTRA!!! OMG so excited about that. I get to perform it in October/November so it means I'll have to come home from Knoxville be still, it's going to be amazing.

Forgot to mention this was even in a dressage saddle! What is it with those prissy (joking) saddles having freakishly long stirrups? You know, I've wondered about that. I mean, I don't mind it so much since I have really long legs, but as best as I can tell, the reason the stirrup leathers are so long is because that allows you more calf contact with the horse, and just about everything in dressage is based on calf pressure (well, or from your seat).
