...When you're at a middle school band concert and when the song ends, you shout "Yeah Band!" as if you were watching a marching band and you wonder why everyone else just claps.

You conduct in your sleep. (Seriously! A few nights ago, I had the flu and I was delirious, so I remember conducting 3/4 in my sleep.)

When you're in science class and your teacher tells you to think of 5 words that come to mind when you hear the word "heat" and your immediate thought is "Band Camp"

You still only know one pronounciation of "bass", and it's the 'bass' in "bass guitar".

In your non-band classes, you call the class to attention when they are too noisy (Just think. It's a way of helping the teacher out while satisfying your personal needs!).

My friend tried that. He was DM, so it worked for the band students, and when we all shouted after being called to attention, that shut the rest of them up.

Ha! I'm gonna do that someday as well, just to scare the non-band kids. They won't even know what to say!

You order your iTunes music according to key signature. I did, and it was actually quite hard!

You know you're a band geek when... You stick your tongue to a pole because your drum major told you to. You have a few episodes of DCI marching competition on your Tivo.

You know you're a band geek when you Google, "Sloganizer", to make band slogans like these:
"Band is the American dream," or "Make every day a band day."

-your greatest memory this year was the marching season -your bestest friends were made in band -you occasionally glance at things you regularly were around during marching season, i.e. the field, stands, even the dang old reeds on the field, and it makes you smile or bring up happy memories. -you have special 'band socks' that you ONLY wear during games/competitions and no where else. -your section is pretty much your family -you love band camp -you'd rather go to a band bonfire at 11 pm than sleep peacefully since you're tired after a game. -you usually hang out in the band room -so many things in band make you smile. -pieces/etudes even scales get stuck in your head. -you admit it when someone calls you a band nerd/geek/dork/ you name it. =]

I could relate to most of those. You know you're a band geek when you know how to conduct in two-time. (where your left hand is conducting in 2/4, and your right hand is conducting in 4/4) Then you use your two-time skills to conduct to songs on the radio.

-all of your field show songs, and the field show video, and the parade videos are on your ipod. -after the Rose parade everyone goes and jumps in the pool except you, who goes and watches the parade reruns.

......you've ever tried to fix a saxophone with a used band-aid (G# key was leaking!) .....you want to be a saxophone repairman at some point in your life .....you look forward to All-State so much that you let as many people as possible, band people or not, just how excited you are
