^^I've brought two baritones and a trombone to a football game--one baritone for me at halftime, one baritone for my section mate that plays football and the trombone for me in the stands.

When you name your reeds... to keep track of them When you and your friends dress up your instrument case to look like a person (samthered, if you please) When you see a kid from band outside of school and call him his band nickname because you forgot his real name (oh, and he was with his mom...)

...when you get in a fight with a freshman in pep band who loves football over whether bandies should be there for the band or the football team
...when you scream the right cadence chant at the cheerleaders because the band is always right and they're always wrong

^ I don't do this a lot, but I agree with him. Go for both. Football rocks, and band rocks.

When you see auxiliary as a spelling word and think color guard (my friend did this...) I actually thought "CAP" but I'm weird.

^ I don't do this a lot, but I agree with him. Go for both. Football rocks, and band rocks. My band has never been there for the football team. We're there because we love marching band and mocking the cheerleaders. We're there to blast stand tunes until our lungs go raw. We're there to put on a killer halftime show that our own school won't stay to watch. It helps that most of the time our football team is so bad that I don't notice they are playing.

...when you get in a fight with a freshman in pep band who loves football over whether bandies should be there for the band or the football team CLARIFICATION: It's not that I don't support football. Didn't think this post would be a big controversy. It's just that the freshman in question is a huge football fan and I'm lucky to know when we score. He was bugging me because I don't know every term and play and who knows what in football and he did and was calling them like he was commentating. ************************ ... when you carry lyres around for instruments you don't use lyres for

^Wow.
I end up having to explain a lot to our people, because they sometimes freak out at a facemask penalty or when there's a delay of game and I have to prevent them from making idiots of themselves. Our third boner and I make bets regarding how a drive will end, and I've actually won a few (he said field goal, I said twenty-yard keeper for the TD).
