Competition name: BOA San Antonio SuperRegional Name of High School it was held at: The ALAMODOME Awards you won: 8th place Any interesting tidbit that may have happened at the competition: During retreat, we stood next to the LD Bell guard, who won finals. We got to chat with them and gave them our congrats after retreat was over. Infact, I got to talk to a person from every guard in finals. It's these bonding experiences that brings bands together. I can't wait to see them at state.

BTW, Cupertino TOB was on a different judging system than the WBA circuit.

New year, new competitions. Lets start this up again!
14th Annual Clinch River Band Festival Bulldog Stadium at Tazewell High School in Tazewell, Virginia
1st Place Marching 1st Place Music 1st Place GE 1st Place Percussion 2nd Place Colorguard 3rd Place Drum Major 1st Place Band Class AAA Overall Grand Champions
Believe it or not, we were only a band for three days before this competition. We basically spent two months having horrible attitudes and slacking because we did so good last year. We had only gotten our full show on the field a week earlier, and even then the whole show sounded like crap. But this past tuesday our director sat us all down and spent the whole two hours of practice talking to us. It helped a whole lot. We had our tenor player and one of our snare players quit the day BEFORE the competition, but we obviously don't need them, as we beat all but one of the other bands in the whole competition.
Go us!

USSBA Marine *something...* competition Burleson HS Best General Effect Best Percussion *something else... memory sucks* 2nd Place in Category AAAA Interesting: Other bands saw us and said "Are ya'll from *town name* and we said yes.. and they totally freaked out, saying how amazing our show was... And then we were watching our tape (they were running the video to burn copies) and a bunch of kids from my band, and our directors, were watching it, when these kids from this other school walk up and is talking about how amazing our band is. One kid asked another "Who is that" the other answered him. The first said "Oh, wow, I've heard about them, *name* told me about them... *Name* also said they're REALLY good. And I agree. They're awesome* I thought I was going to cry... We beat one band by two places that went to Area finals two years ago (we got 21st out of 27 at area that year... so it was fantastic to beat them) And another of our rivals by score... 80 We missed first place by .25 But it was splendid...

Crocket County September 29, 2007
Class sweep (only band in the class). Overall Grand Champion.
Supposedly I was 2nd for the solo awards...
Gibson County Pioneer Marching Invitational September 29, 2007
1st place band class AAAA 1st place percussion class AAAA 1st place guard class AAAA 3rd place drum majors class AAAA Best Pit Crew Overall Best Percussion Overall Best Guard Overall Best Band Division II Champion (Classes AAA and AAAA) Sweepstakes Grand Champion
I got to go and retreat the trophies for this one, and it was definitly an experience. Three of us (out of the eight), had a bad left leg (and I had to add my right side to that too), so periodically, we would just start swaying back and forth. And there were four classes and about 17 bands, and they when they started out with PARTICIPATION awards, we knew it would be a long night. And it was. So we were getting bored, so we started doing a set number of claps. 13, 8,7, 4 slow, 9, etc. Then we got bored and did a "wave" of claps. The band next to us tried to join in... but they couldn't master it like we could lol. It was funny bc when they started to give out the overalls, the dm from that band was like "hey, we would win if you'd stop taking our trophies!" It was a great night.
Vanderbilt Marching Invitational Vanderbilt Stadium-- Nashville, TN October 6, 2007
Superior band, percussion, guard, and drum majors 1st place band class A (Note: they did A, B, C, and D classses, a being the largest). 1st place percussion in Large Division (classes A and B) 2nd place guard in Large Division Large Division Champion Overall Grand Champion
We won our trophy back!!! I'm so happy we won VMI. It's an incredible feeling. I think our whole band needed this as a sign that said, "Ok, we can play with the big kids at Contest of Champions in a few weeks."

BOA Clarksville Austin Peay State University October 6, 2007
We got 22nd Place out of 24 bands.... Which sucks....
Of course, it didn't help that we performed first (after waking up at 3 AM), that the sound system stopped working just as we had entered the field, so we were standing there for OVER 5 MINUTES (I'm not even kidding) until the announcer eventually yelled out the window...

^I'm not sure if only 1 TN band made finals or not... I know Page got 11th place, so they were pretty close, and I know Castle won prelims and Adair won finals.

Sullivan: Percussion placed 1st out of all the bands there. Washington: Band got 4th in B division, Percussion was 2nd in division by 1 point. Francis Howell: Band got 6th in Silver Division, Percussion was 2nd in division and 4th overall.
^Not incredible compared to some of the other results on here, but pretty good for a band that has sucked in the last 2 years. I'm particularly surprised at Francis Howell, in which we held our own against a number of the best bands in the area and even some in the state, especially considering that 9/14 of the pit is freshmen.

Tennessee Valley Invitational (or something like that... It had Tennessee Valley in the name) Muscle Shoals High School Muscle Shoals, AL 10/20/07
Ratings: Drum major: 1 Color guard: 1 Percussion: 1 Band: 1, 1, 1 - overall 1
We got 1st place in class 4A, and, out of 34 bands, we got 3rd place overall. Our color guard got 2nd place overall, and our percussion got 10th overall.
It was one of our best, if not the best, performances we've had.

It's too painful to put up the Bandmaster's results from this weekend... give me a few days/weeks/months/years to get over it.
