Well,I did this on the old version of the board, and it worked out real well,so why not do it on this board now?
The title of the topic is pretty much self explanitory.Just post the results of the competitions you go to.All you have to do is put:
Competition name Name of High School it was held at Awards you won Any interesting tidbit that may have happened at the competition
Yeah,I believe its pretty simple. It worked really good 2 years ago when I did it,so hopefully it will be just as popular this time.
As for our band,we have yet to go to a competition, but our first one is next saturday.
Also,so it's easier to find,is their any way this can be pinned for the time being? Thanks

Ok,well,I guess I musta made this too early.I'll post some results from our competition and if nothing happens, then I guess I'll just let it die.
Clinch River Valley Band Festival
Tazewell High School
1st Place Music 1st Place General Effect 1st Place Percussion 1st Place Marching 1st Place Auxillaries 2nd Place Drum Major 1st Place Overall Band Class AAA Superior Rating(Our score was 90.4) Band of the Day
Something interesting was that all 3 of our County Bands were at this competition in different Classes, and all 3 of us placed 1st in our class,so out county swept the competition.
Also, this was the first time in our schools 46 year history that the band has won Band of the Day,so go us.
Ok,hopefully this will help jumpstart this topic.=P

JCM Marching Inviatational
Houston High School
1st drum majors 1st guard 1st percussion 1st band Division Champion
Briarcrest Marching Invitational
1st drum majors 2nd guard 1st percussion 1st band Best Soloist Division AAAAA Champion Overall Grand Champion
No one in band thought that we'd even place at Briarcrest. We told to be happy if our name was even called. We thought that we would crash and burn since yesterday was our first day of competition, and all the other bands were on the 2nd or 3rd week of competition. Not to mention we marched first in our class. And somebody got stupid Friday night and broke their arm playing ultimate frisbee and couldnt march so we had to stick someone in their spot who got to march the whole show a grand total of 2 times before we left for JCM. But we won and we rushed the field and it was exciting. It was really scary though bc after we marched one guy's body just gave out on him bc he hadn't eaten anything and had only had 1 bottle of water the whole day and he had to be taken out in an ambulance.

BOA Midwest Regional Youngstown Collage stadium 1st Percussion 1st Guard 1st Overall Effect 1st Music 1st Visual Division AAA Champion Overall 4th place At first no one though that we would even make finals at first but then our band director came and told us that we had swept all the captions and stuff. But then when it came to the actual competition it started to rain and thunder w/ lightening and they canceled Finals!!!!! we were all so pissed off, because some bands got to perform and other's didn't

This result's a little late getting up... but I was out of town getting my sister from college (gotta love fall break)... but here are the results from October 7, 2006.
Vanderbilt Marching Invitational
Vanderbilt Stadium
Superior Band Superior Percussion Superior Drummajor ^our whole band thought we'd lost then bc the band before us got superior everything
1st Band 1st Percussion 2nd Colorguard 3rd Drummajor
Class D Champion Chancellor's Cup Large Division Grand Champion
It really sucked because my knees just gave out on me after we marched... I messed it up going up a hill at lunch (it popped and then it really hurt)... and so in between the time i ate lunch and my parents took me to our hotel (since we were staying in Nashville instead of going home on the band bus) I was carried by 5 different guys because I couldn't walk. However winning the Chancellor's Cup made me estatic (we weren't expected to win since last time we competed at VMI we were dubbed the "Most Screwed Band" in 9th place) and almost made up for all the pain.

Yeah,we didn't think we would win this either since as soon as we got on it started raining. At awards a 1A Band called Mt.Airy won 1st in everything except GE,so we thought they had won band of the day,but when it was announced we had,we all about had a heart attack.

Oooh,double post.Oh well.
28th Annual George Wythe Band Festival
George Wythe High School, Wytheville Virginia
1st Place Drum Major 2nd Place Percussion 2nd Place General Effect 3rd Place Colorguard 3rd Place Band Class AA Superior Rating(85.5)
Quite Frankly,we got shafted. We got bumped up to Class AA a week before the competition,we were the smallest band in AA.The judges ripped into us,saying everything we've worked on is wrong, and that we sounded awful. But,oddly enough,we won Drum Major, and were only 4 points to a couple tenths out of first place in everything else.Set it up to where we were just out of reach...just because we have been beating the host band really badly this year.
Oh,and on a side note, for all you east coast bands that may want to go to this competition next year-DON'T.Its a horrible competition....waaaay too much favortism in all the classes.I felt sorry for a band there, though. The host band went to their competition last week and got absolutely nothing other than a 2nd place trophy,so they went around and made them get no first places(Only 2 bands in their class) when their show was a whole lot better than the other bands show. Its Screwed up.

^ exactly why our band refuses to go to the Tennessee State Championship even though we are good enough to go. The same band has won 23-50 times. And then only 3 other bands have won. The chances of a west TN band getting in finals are slim to none (last time one got in was 5 years ago).
Austin Peay Marching Invitational
Austin Peay State University
Prelims 2nd guard 2nd percussion (when you have a drumline thats ranked 9th in the WORLD 2nd is devastating) 2nd band Class AAAA place: 2nd
Finals: Outstanding Percussion (our drum instructor must have had quite a chit-chat with the drumline) Overall Score: 3rd
Our band always goes down after prelims. We never go up. If we had, we could have won. But the bands that placed ahead of us were very[i/] good. And we've never beaten those bands. Ever. I personally think that winning 3 straight championships went to more than a few people's heads and we didn't perform to the level we could have. Plus we were coming off of fall break- 5 days without practice. But hopefully this will motivate us to win our last two competitions.

Tri-State Marching Band Festival
Marshall University,Huntington West Virginia
1st Place Drum Major 1st Place Percussion 1st Place Music 1st Place Marching 1st Place General Effect 4th Place Colorguard Superior Rating(No score avaliable though) 1st Place Band Class A 6th Place Band Overall
There were 28 Bands at this competition, and 12 in Class A.We were also the only band from Virginia at the whole competition. We seriously thought we would get to this competition and get Owned like we did last year(20th out of 36 bands),and we thought that after our performance. But turns out, what we thought was wrong was due to the echo of the stadium. It was one of the best shows we've done this year.At awards we were just down on the field laughing and having a good time, since we didn't think we would get anything, but we freaked when we won everything.
Its also nice to know that we can go pretty much anywhere and compete with the best of the best, since in the past we usually flounder around and barely get anything...Its very...I dunno.Inspiring to say the least.

Dixie Marching Invitational Northeastern Community College Ratings: Drummajors: 2 Guard: 1 Percussion: 1 Band: 1 ^we were the only band in our class not to get straight 1's- so thats a bit sad for our dms Class 4A Results: Percussion: 1st Band: 1st Overall Best Percussion (score of 94.5) Class 3A and 4A Champion Overall Grand Champion The field was a piece of crap. It had rained hard on Thursday and the downfield was pretty much a mudpit. And soooo... this is what happens to me when I try to do a rock-and-roll in the mud: That hurt SOOOO bad. After the show I just broke down and couldn't stop crying... it was soo embarrassing.

Cavalier Classic
East Burke High School,Connely Springs North Carolina
1st Place Percussion 1st Place Colorguard 2nd Place Drum Major 2nd Place Front Ensemble 3rd Place Overall Band Class AA Excellent Rating(Score was 68,what the?)
Yeah, theirs absolutely no way we did bad enough to score a 68 when the 2 other bands that beat us scored a 90 and 93.Thats insane. We did not do that crappy. Also, its a bit weird when we were 1st and 2nd in almost everything and still scored that low.Oh well.
Well, that was our last competition of the year--overall spectacular season.Pretty much swept everywhere we went.Only got one 3rd place trophy the whole season while everything else was 1st and 2nd,got the bands 1st ever Band of the Day in the schools 46 year history.Yeah, next year is going to be even better since we're getting even more people to come up next year.We should have 4 Tubas instead of 1,5 trombones instead of 2,like 4 mellophones, close to 12 trumpets I believe, and our drumline is even going to grow too, along with all the other sections. We're goint to own all next year.

Bandmasters Championship
Liberty Bowl Stadium (Memphis)
Best Music Performance Best General Effectiveness Superior Score (93.270) Class AAAA Champion Bandmasters Grand Champion
Because there were 29 bands, they didn't give out awards for color guard or percussion unless you got first in your class. Our drummline lost by .005 and that really made our drum instructor upset. But it felt sooo good to end the season on that win because our band has come soooo far from last year. It was a VERY good way to end the season.
