I was wondering if a pocket trumpet is about the same difficulty as a regular trumpet? Is it harder/easier to play? I've found that a lot of times that pockets are less expensive than full size.

Yes. Same. Usually around 100 to 150 bucks. Usually so cheap beacuse they are manufactured by machines and not very detailed.
I've never played one, although i know someone who has one and plays it all the time. I'm pretty sure pockets function exactly the same. Although, they aren't necessarily allowed to be played in many bands lol. Its just a fun travel/novelty item.

We have a PT that gets passed down through the band and played at pep rallies- a different senior has it every year. None of them seem to have a problem with it so... IDK. My guess would be they probably aren't as good as a high quality full sizer, but they'll do ya in a pinch.

Update: we now have a pep rally PT section... that completely murders the band's tuning; they can't even tune with themselves b/c the instruments are so badly made. :S
