Is it okay to buy new instruments from Ebay? It is way cheaper and it looks better then what I have.

My brother purchased a new (I think it was new) flugelhorn off of EBAY for about $400 and it is a great instrument, so it is possible to find good instruments on Ebay.....just make sure you take note of who or what company you are buying from.

Well, I found a Yamaha Black Lacquer Alto Sax and it is what I have been looking for. It also said 2010 so it is farely new For a buy-it-now price of $302 it wasn't bad!! I was just wondering if I should trust this or not I am not a professional sax player so I don't know what is best and what is terrible

We actually had this discussion in class the other day. Sometimes, like bluescalesdragon said, you can get good instruments on Ebay, but you really have to be careful.

A really good instrument for such a low price is a little suspect, so I'd look into the company or person's feedback, and maybe check the maker's website to see how much it typically goes for. If it's being sold way below value, there *might* be something wrong with it, so maybe try to arrange a play test period of a week or two after which you could send it back if unsatisfied?

There are a lot of instruments on ebay that have a name that sounds similar to popular brands. I have seen a few instruments on ebay that were good, with decent prices, but mostly I haven't seen much on ebay that you couldn't find in a store for less of a hassle.
