I'm gonna run through a quick list of moves that we do in the stands and during parades. If you can talk your section into doing it, go for the suicides, they are SO much fun. Check this out...
www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBb7zxs68s0Anyway, on to the list...
-"Churn that butter", hold the trombone by the tuning slide, slide on the ground, and churn it! You can vary the direction, speed, whatever works with the cadence.
-"Defense", we do this with our defense cheer, you move your instrument up to parade rest height, then attention height, and then "swizzle" your horn back down, rinse/repeat.
-"Rock out", pretty self explanatory
-"Led Zepplin Cheer", when the drumline starts this one up, we alternate leaning forward and leaning back, creating this cool wavy effect throughout the band
I'm having trouble thinking of all of the ones we do in the stands. On to the parade moves...
-holding your trombone in the crook of your arm, moving up/down and side to side
-"machinegun", hold your trombone like a gun and "shoot" it
-"Mario Party", turn your trombone upside down and try to catch falling items from the sky
-"Tusken Raider", hold your trombone above your head and scream
-"Ride the pony", self explanatory
-"300-style pump", "What is your profession?" "HOO! HOO!"
-"Remix/Pull", Put the trombone on your shoulder, wave it side to side, then someone yells "Pull", you slowly move it from left to right until you line up the target, then you "shoot"
-"motorcycle", go "vroom vroom vroom" with your trombone, can also work as a chainsaw
-"Strike a pose/Freeze", this one has been pretty popular the past couple years, while the entire band is rocking out, the trombones freeze in a cool pose, this can be really funny during parades, because the front half of the band just leaves us behind, so we have to run to catch up. All in good fun
-"Bonehead", put your trombone on your head like a dunce cap. You are now a bonehead.
That's all I can think of for now. I'll post more as I think of them.
By the way, here's some videos of us in action.
