Have you ever auditioned for all-city/region/state before? I'm going to in October for all-city on my tenor saxophone. I am playing 2 etudes and a few scales, including chromatic. Any tips?

Make sure you know the date you audition. No one at my school did last year (because with 3 directors over the year, they forget to let you know), so none of our kids made it. Try to play everything in front of your friends or music teacher, and pretend it's the actual audition. I know that for me, playing it in front of the upperclassmen in my section was more terrifying than the actual thing, so if you do it enough, nerves shouldn't be a problem.
Good luck!

Today was All-City auditions and I made 1st chair tenor saxophone in the concert band. I could've done better but that's what All-Region is for next month.

i had all-county band tryouts today. i think my prepared piece went well actually sight reading... well, the judge was my middle school band director, kinda weird for your judge being the person who heard you play your first notes... instead of having a minute to look over it we had 30 secs.. and get this, it had FOUR sharps in the key signature and was in 9/8 UGH! AND THE JUDGE PICKS OUT THE MUSIC!!! i will find out if i made it tomorrow.

I made it! 13/20 chair clarinet! 17 people from my high school made it! I'm pretty sure I'm the only freshman in the whole all-county band..but that's ok!
