We got our opener music better today because people were sort-of quiet and listened to what we were told to do. We actually got something done in a half-hour! That never happens. Talking sucks in our band. T_x

Our band is on track to finish the show before band camp is over. *dances*

We're learning a song (drill and putting it to music) a day, and in shorter days than our past band camps (5-9).
Also, rookies that aren't in my section keep coming up to me and saying how much I've helped them, as some other leaders don't care too much this year (with the no competing and all). That just makes my day~

Just got back from band camp, and even the people who usually hate band camp, loved it. Hallelujah.

we played for a pep rally today, which involves us wearing black pants and our dorky polos, and while a few of us were talking between class an ASB member thanked us! we occasionally get thanked as we're leaving or in some offical "thank you" message but a walk by thanks really ment a lot

Way back before most of you guys were born....
We lost out director between my Jr and Sr year (didn't die, he just retired), so as we approached the 80-81 school year, we had a band, plenty of interested parties....and no one to lead us.
The section leaders and other long-termers (myself included) got together and - with the blessing of the school admin - put the first show together ourselves. Managed to teach ourselves, too!
We got a director the 2nd week of school, but it was nice to do the first one by ourselves!

^ 1frodos1, how did you set up this silent rehearsal? How did you get it to work? We are thinking of trying something similar for my band.
