Cavies disappointed me this year. They just didn't do it for me. Am I the only one who fell asleep during the SCV Quarterfinals? Seriously, I dozed off on a drummer's shoulder during most of it, and woke up towards the closer. Bluecoats were good, but who were the 2 corps that did the Winter theme and the Seafaring theme? 1. I agree! I was rather disappointed with the Green Machine this year... I hope next year they get something more exciting. It just didn't scream "Cavies" like all their other shows. 2. Nope, you weren't, though I still loved the show. I had been booted from my seat and had to watch it up top at Allentown, and I started leaning over the fence, bawling my eyes out when they all came forward in the company front, playing "Simple Gifts." I thought it was amazing. 3. I don't know what other corps did a winter theme, but the Blue Knights did "Shiver." The sea-faring shows was the Colts' "Fathoms."

I know the DM score doesn't add up in the overall score, but there is a drum major judge. I was just curious on their grading and scores.

huh, that's different from high school competition where they give out caption awards for best drum majors, guard, percussion, and winds as well as placement trophies and other various bonus awards such as spirit or something to that effect. i think the scoring is probably pretty similar. grid sheet with 5 columns, right? maybe high school judges think that high schoolers need compensation for not taking first place. "We didn't take first, but at least we got best guard!" that happens though where a band will get a caption award or two, but it's not enough to offset GE and so they take 2nd. i think that's what happened between BD and Crown.

When I was watching the Quarterfinals, the announcer was talking about the drum major scores, and how it doesn't affect the bands overall score when the grading system was explained, and that there was someone who judged. I think I'm just misunderstanding something? Thanks.
