As much as I disliked living on the 6th floor and the silly visitation rules (and to think I wanted them at one point!) the living situation wasn't too bad. My triple was 17x17 but then one girl moved out and the other didn't spend anytime in our room since I wouldn't allow her boyfriend to sleep over(...) and the bathroom that I shared with half the hall (~50) was across the hallway.

I actually thought about teaching a hs guard. But, I'm not actually very good at teaching (I'd have a long way to go if I tried that), and I'd only be able to commit summer time to it. I'd do better as a "tech" underneath the direction of a more experience guard person. I'm far too busy this fall, between Organic Chem, Physics and Calculus II. >< Its bound to be a stressful fall.

MAC= Mid-American Conference (I definitely had to look that up), but Eastern Michigan is in the same conference as Ohio, which is where SaxGirl goes to school (but they dont play in football this year, if I remember correctly) Correct. We aren't playing EMU this year (we played CMU last year). Our schedule this year is odd... we're playing at least two, if not three, non-MAC schools (University of Tennessee, Cal Poly, and UConn for our opening game). I wonder why we do that. Even odder, in 2007 and 2008, our opening game (just the football team) was against University of Wyoming. Who was reading the map when they decided that one? so i just finished up my first week of band camp at KU. we've gotten about half of pregame done yay! anyway, so i'm considering joining Tau Beta Sigma because a bunch of the guard girls are in it and it seems pretty cool. any advice in that area? Advice? Go to both KKΨ and TBΣ pre-rush events. I NEVER thought Id join a sorority, but once I got to know some of the existing members, I could see myself being a part of one of the music Greeks. I went to a few of each organization's pre-rush events (as well as ΣAI's), and eventually found that TBΣ would be more like my niche to fall into. KKΨ was awesome, but I just felt more at home with TBΣ. From speaking with friends who are brothers and sisters f both organizations at other schools, they tend to feel the same way. Most of the time you just "know" which one is right for you based on the people in each organization and the entire atmosphere of each. Don't make a huge deal about the pre-rush process, either. Scope out both (or more, if Kansas has other organizations like ΣAI) to see which one you can see yourself being active in. Would you enjoy doing service for women in music? Can you see yourself getting along actively with the other sisters? I'm sure you'll decide!

haha, I remember being baffled last year as to why Ohio opened against Wyoming (where one of my hs friends goes). At least JMU just plays teams up and down the east coast (at least until playoffs).
Woot! the ninja is all moved it.
lol, visitation rules are... idk. I never had them. I was also never bothered by significant others sleeping over. (I mean, last year my roommate's bf went to Maryland, so it was kind of a big deal when he came down to visit. So I was more than happy to bunk up with a friend for a night or two the couple times he was here). Basically, so long as I didn't have a strenuous amount of hw to do, or didn't have an 8 or 9am test, I was pretty chill with visitations and such.

yeah, KU's first game is against Northern Colorado. they're not in big 12 like we are, but i guess NCAA decided we would play them. colorado is the next state west of kansas, but KU is only 45 minutes from the eastern border, so colorado is pretty far from here.

I move in Tuesday! I'm so excited!
I dunno when our first football game is, or who it's against, but all I know is that the band doesn't travel with the football team - we only perform at home games, which is fine with me. It would be fun to travel, but it's tiring lol. Our football team isn't Div. 1 either... Not sure what they are, but all the rest of the sports are Div. 1.

^I made a point to sign up for 9am classes this semester, while being able to sleep in until 11 was nice on TR last year, it let me waste a whole bunch of time. But that means I have no idea how early I have to wake up to get ready... so I woke up at 7 for a class that doesn't start for 50 mn and I know it doesn't take me 50 mn to walk across campus. It would be fun to travel, but it's tiring lol. . For some reason bunch of BUGWBers love the games we have away (Tech, A&M, UT) and the exhibition we always have the Monday after homecoming (we think the directors have it out for us) but I always seem to pass out on the bus before we make it two blocks. For random pairings how about Baylor v UConn? or Baylor v. Penn State? (in Basketball, we'd be creamed if we played them in football, I am not afraid to admit that)

So, I moved into the apartment complex I'm living in today, only to discover that my room didn't come furnished like I thought it did (to be fair, I'd never actually checked if it did, and just assumed).
Needless to say, I'm spending this evening back at home (I don't have anything on my schedule until practice tomorrow evening), and will be moving all the furniture I can fit in my car down tomorrow.

Greene, I signed up for 9am MWF classes and 8am TuTh classes. At least they aren't Chemistry this year. Kinesiology and General Education music.
Spacermase, ahhh... that sucks. hopefully it'll work out in favor of you. Side note here... I ran into someone that looked VERY VERY VERY similar to you this weekend when I was hanging out at my friend's apartment. It was weird. you don't randomly have an evil twin named Mark right?

It has to do with athletic budgets and who gets paid for what. Ohio is probably receiving a huge check from Tennessee to come and play a 1 or 2 game deal (and Tennessee doesn't have to return the trip). Same with UConn probably. Smaller Div IA schools wouldn't be able to pay bills without making trips such as the one to Tennessee.

My school is playing UGA in football this year. I don't even think we're in the same division as them...? I guess it's for the reason TFBC said?

Sorry for the double post.
So I got my clarinet out today to practice my scales and stuff. I hadn't played my clarinet since our spring concert in May. BAD IDEA. I need to build up my embouchure again. I barely lasted 2 times through the circle of fifths. Pathetic on my part. I remembered all the scales, my face is just weak.

Yep, TTU is our homecoming game this year, so I'll be playing in the alumni band for that game! ;D TTU will probably get about $300 to $400K for the game.
