huh, there are a surprisingly large amount of IUP connections here. never expected that seeing as it's a small state school in practically the middle of nowhere (no offense to the people that go there). In my high school's eyes if you want to do music ed you go to IUP, all of our music teachers in the district came from there and most of the students who go through the program and give half a heart to band look into that. I heard they had a decent anthro department so I applied, was accepted, visited and that good opinion lasted all of 30 mn. I just didn't like the giant hill the campus was on- I was also still disillusioned that my dept wouldn't be in the corner somewhere...hah.

I'm pretty sure Brassdancer goes to IUP. And she's music something or other. JMU is kind of on two hills, with central campus in the dip between them. Thus sometimes it was "uphill both ways".

yeah, KU is surprisingly hilly and there are parts where you really do have to go uphill both ways. but i honestly think the award for flattest campus goes to Michigan State. I visited as a junior and i swear the campus is perfectly level.

OU is like the only place in Ohio with hills, which I find hilarious. When it was built in 1804, it was placed on a hill so that nearby Native Americans wouldn't attack it. Now the hills serve a different purpose: to become morning class discussion when the weather's crappy. "Oh GOD, I had to walk up that HILL to my Spanish class in the RAIN. UGGGGGHHHH." A friend of mine from around the Dayton drove to see a DCI show in Pittsburgh this summer. Being from Pittsburgh, I have no qualms with the hills. She, however, did, and almost thought her car would have to get a tune-up. I'm like, "Hon, that's not a mountain. That's a hill." Talk about level campus, though: University of Indiana at Bloomington. There are a FEW parts with a slight grade, but man, I had never been to Indiana prior to the campus tour, and would like to never go back. There's no variation!

The U of Minnesota is pretty flat too. the only change in elevation that i know of is the river bluffs. i'm originally from pittsburgh too, so hills don't phase me.

Texas A&M's campus is pretty flat, if I remember correctly?
ahhhhhhh I can't wait to get back to college. I'm so sick of sitting around at home. But I don't want to pack/get my stuff together.

I'm not leaving for another 10 days, but I'm just so anxious. I'm paranoid that I'm going to forget something. I've got to go up there and drop off my bike/pick up my loft bed next Tuesday though haha.

I'm going to EMU (Eastern Michigan University, for those not familiar w/ MAC schools)! It admittedly was not my first choice, but I had no chance of getting in to Michigan, so I settled for EMU. It's not a bad school, actually, but their music program (specifically their ensembles) just aren't of the caliber I'm looking for. I also spent almost every Sunday during the school year for the past 3 years in Michigan's music building, so it really does feel like home to me. So I guess I'm kind of using EMU as a stepping stone to Michigan, but we'll see how things work out. My dad actually went to EMU for both his bachelors and masters degrees, and my mom went there for her masters (MSU for her bachelors). I guess I have green blood, even if I do want to deny it. My mom told me I could probably have gotten into MSU because both she and her sister went there, and they're kinda big on the whole family thing. But I don't really like MSU/am not very familiar with their professors, so I decided not to apply. And I don't plan on being in any music fraternities or sororities. You can tell me how awesome and fun they are, but if I have enough time to participate in such groups, then I'm not practicing enough.
