My SL only gave us 2 days to memorize the first and second movement. Is this normal?

I don't necessarily see anything wrong with it. I just hope you guys have short movements, because it IS a bit much to memorize in two days. O.O

I think it's unusual, but not unreasonable.
edit: Actually we just got our opener today, and memorized it at rehearsal. So, it's do-able and whatnot, but having articulations and dynamics required is a bit much. But yeah, just memorizing the notes shouldn't be too hard.

I speant all night memorizing and did it. My SL totally denied making us in front of the director because he knew we were supposed to have until monday. Just about made me push him to the football field. I speant the whole day doing sets of push-ups because I couldn't hold my euph up for 25 minutes on the 4th day. My SL is extremely annoying. He couldn't march a single parade last year when he switched from bari to euph.

How long have you had the music? I've been dealing with this with my section for weeks where I tell them, "by next practice, you have to have this memorized," and it's a week away, and they don't. Then we'll have a closer practice, maybe 2 or 3 days apart, and I'll tell them that they then have to memorize it by then. It's hard for an SL to get their section together. Just be patient.
