I'm flute section leader this year, and I don't know what to do. I feel like I have to tell them something 1,000,000 times before they actually maybe think about doing it. They always tell me they practice, but I'm not hearing progress. I told them to have 5 of their exercises memorized by thursday of last week and they're still not memorized this week. We have a sectional at school that I can't go to, and it's killing me not to go because I feel like I need to be there. Our woodwind tech is really good this year, but he doesn't play flute, and I don't feel like there's anyone I can leave in charge for the flutes. What should I do?

Read "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. Our BD is having leadership read this and it works WONDERS if you use the things it says.
