On April 2nd, I badly stubbed my toe. I ended causing some nerve damage in my big toe, which made it hard to walk. For several weeks I was on crutches putting no weight on my foot. For the last two weeks, I was still using both crutches but was putting weight on my foot. Now I am using one crutch, which I will probably keep up through Thursday. My problem is that next week band camp starts up. On May 27th and 28th, I'll have a 3 hour rehersal each day, with just the new marchers. Not only will I be dealing with an injured foot that I haven't even been able to walk on for almost two months, I'm probably very out of shape, since I haven't ran since the end of March. Any tips on quickly getting back and shape; and dealing with a still injured foot?

walk daily, or go on short jogs. Or bike rides - that'd be best because you wouldn't be putting pressure on it. As for your foot - ask your doctor

Freshman year, too--that blows.
Yeah, biking and, if possible, swimming would do you some good. If neither are available, then, yes, jog. I'm gonna be honest about the marching; if you can't make your toe any worse by marching on it, then march. Take some aspirin and suck it up, because in the long run, it will be more worth it than you can imagine.

If your doctor tells you not to march for x-amount of time, you can still show up to rehearsals and play the music along with the band and watch for where your spot is on the field or something.

Just try to do everything you can. Jog, ride a bike, that kind of stuff. It will all work out. Dont worry.

Staying in shape: Do what you can that you feel comfortable with.
Band Camp: Talk to your doctor. He/She knows best. If He/She says stay off it, stay off it. You don't want to create more problems because those take even longer to heal. Show up for rehearsal, learn the music and get a drill chart for when you finally heal. Like I said before, do only what you feel you can do though. Get well soon!
