I have two. One of them my third chair had for a while and it really helped his tone.

Yeah, I've got one for football games so it doesn't freeze to my face. It also glows in the dark. =3

I played one in highschool all the time. I liked the dark tone to it. But my dog ate it 2 1/2 weeks before the regional festival. I had to order myself a Helleberg and have it shipped in record time. But tl;dr I like lexans.

I don't like the tone at all, but I like that I can play in the cold without freezing my mouthpiece to my lips. I only use it when I have to bugle during the winter (we march summer, so it's not applicable for marching).

Fruple, where can I get such a thing? I'm pretty sure most Schmitt music stores have them. I got mine when my friend graduated and she didn't need it, but when we've been shopping around it's seemed to consistently show up at Schmitt.

The nearest Schmitt place is six hours away...screw living in the boondocks.

I would never in my life be caught dead playing with a plastic mouthpiece. What a disgrace. I would probably also get slapped across the face and forever be shunned. So yes, I am the stubborn one that breaks out the metal mouthpiece in 30-40 degree weather, ESPECIALLY parades.

30-40 degree weather isn't bad. It's the under 0 weather I break it out for, because by then just putting a hand warmer on it doesn't cut it. I like using the normal metal mouthpieces for as long as I can because I personally have better tone on them. But, the plastic one really amuses our low brass, so it's totally worth having bad tone if it keeps them entertained during games and not complaining about things.

Well, they may work for some people, but I would never let anyone in my section use them. At all. Neither would our BD. And 30-40 degree is bad when you normally do shows in 100-115 degree weather where your mouthpiece is basically on fire and you have black uniforms. ;D

^ I know that game. Also, personally, I think plastic mouthpieces look really unprofessional, even if they're all the same. I just don't like them.
