i've been in marching band for 3 years but next year will be my first time marching. i'm not sure which kind of sneakers (cross-trainers etc) would be the best for marching (practices, not performances obviously) so does anyone have any recommendations?

Skater shoes actually work pretty well, the flat sole is decent for roll-stepping.

i like inexpensive running shoes. they're comfy and have somewhat of a rolled heel.

I'm partial to Converse. They're soooo comfortable.

I'm going to agree with converse. I wore my pumas before the soles got torn out, and those are also good. I sometimes just wear regular running shoes as well. And once it gets a litte colder, I know a bunch of people who wear moccasins.
The older kids also sometimes get away with marching barefooted (of course, those are the days where we end up on the pavement as well, purposely to torure them) but that's not advisable.

New Balance. I have my pair from last summer....... they took a beating and they still have some life left to them. once you break them in, they're the best feel on your foot. and I've marched in all of the above stated already, but New Balance I've found to be the best.

like other people on here, i've always marched in converse. high tops especially support your ankle some which helps in backwards marching. my ex and one of my friends got me addicted to marching in converse my frehsman year. i haven't worn anything other than shoes for performances since

I would recommend against high-tops since they offer zero arch support and can lead to problems and pain. Personally I've been marching for five years in Adidas Sambas. They have great arches and a good flat bottom, plus they stay on your feet better than skate shoes. They're a little tough at first and the arch can be a bit hard against your feet, but once you get them broken in they're excellent and last for freaking ever.
That said, it's really up to your preference. There isn't really a best shoe, it's whatever is comfortable for you.

For your marching you can have comfortable shoes from famous brand. Only nice and comfortable shoes will help you to march in a best way. You can have them from a good online store as there you can find them on decent price. Have also purchased workout gear for myself from online store.
