Okay, so I want go to a college in Westchester County, New York, but there are very little with a marching band, and a Music Education course...NYU has a pep band, but I really want the drills, half time shows, the whole deal. Is there a college that has a marching band and a music education course? Or is there some type of organization of marching band where I can do a real marching band and go to NYU? If no one can give me a specific answer for my 2nd question, what do I type into google? xP Please and thank you.

Unless you have a very good reason to go to college in Westchester, I wouldn't recommend narrowing yourself that much. However, if you do... I tried college board and its location feature hated me, but the only thing it came up with in NY was Syracuse, which I doubt is what you want. collegesearch.collegeboard.com/search/adv_typeofschool.jsp if you want to try for yourself. May I ask why you want to go to college there? On the NYU front, there was one reference on the jazz page to a "samba marching band", but hell if I know what that is. As for participating in a "real" band, DCI or DCA is a very real option. It's a bit of money, but if you think of it as a class and as part of your tuition, then you may have an easier time coping.

College board doesn't help too much.
The reason I want to go to a college in westchester is because my sister is there and I would like to be near her before I get on with my life. Ya know?
Yeah I know I got the same thing, but if you search pep band there is actually stuff but...
I will google that DCI and DCA. It all depends how much it is. Thanks. ^_^

^DCA corps are generally pretty cheap, and aren't much time commitment...DCI corps, especially world class, are a LOT of both.

Nvm. I see the Cabalerros thing, they will let almost anyone join. Maybe pep band is just easier, I will have to check into this even further. -_-

^They are not generally associated with a school (cough hack THE SPIRIT cough hack). And, yes, they are only for brass instruments; it used to be brass instruments in G, but I guess they changed that for obvious reasons. On the brighter side, gaining another instrument is never a bad thing.
EDIT: It just occurred to me that you have an incredible resource for DCA/DCI stuff right here...go to the Drum Corps forum!

Well, you won't play a french horn in a drum corps, but you can play the mellophone. The only similarity is that they're in the same key... other than that, the mello is basically a trumpet.

^They play very similar parts, though, do they not? And, aren't mellos in Eb?

but you can find mello mouthpieces that are more like a french horn rather than the trumpet mouthpiece. some of the mellos from my hs have those type. probably doesn't screw up you embrasure as much.
