I'm looking at starting to teach clarinet and sax (alto & tenor) and was wondering if anyone could recommend some good beginner books (both method books and tune books) for beginners. When I started out, all I learnt from was "A Tune A Day" so I'm not really sure what else is out there...

In middle school our director told everyone to get "Standard of Excellence" books. The red ones are the beginners, blue is the next step, and green is the 3rd step.

When I started out on both flute and saxophone, I used the Rubank method books. They all have sky blue colors, and are great because they have different books for the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. I know a lot of private lesson teachers who teach beginners use these books.
Essential Elements are great, too. That's what I have always used when teaching myself a new instrument (I have both the trumpet and horn beginning books as well as violin books 1 & 2). The new editions also come with DVDs/CDs and stuff that go with the books as well. I would prefer the Rubank books over these because the EE books start having band stuff thrown in when you get to the middle of the book, while the Rubanks are geared more towards private solo work.
I know when the kids in our band were in beginning band (I went to a different school), they used Standard of Excellence books. I've never really been much of a fan of them because they're more of a band method book than just book for individual instruments. But they do have some fun stuff in them to play, at least in the flute books.
So overall, I would recommend Rubank, but I would also recommend going to a music store and asking someone who works there what they have method book-wise. Then, flip through them and decide from there!

Thanks guys, I'm definately looking for solo books, not ones that are more band based due to the way the school music system works over here in Australia. Yeah, I will go into some music shops to ask, but I'm after some more first hand knowledge I don't mind buying over the internet either.
