Well My band director this year has done a horrible job. I'm not kidding. Well we didn't have a band director mostly during the summer so It was me and the other DM that pretty much ran things. [glow=red,2,300]THE BAND LOOKED AMAZING.[/glow] well better than past years. When the new director came in...... it all changed. He never enforced any rules, took away all of me and the other DM's respect from the band. He pretty much made us look like the bad guys. Everyone knew if I gave a punishment for something they could get out of it by going to the band director. I was blamed for the whole thing when I was the one staying up late in the band hall talking to the BD, with him nodding his head saying ya...ya... ok.. I'll fix that... nothing happened. We are getting a new band director and I'm certain I'll be DM again. What can you do to prevent this? How do I regain the respect? How can the situation be changed? any feedback would help.

i'm not drum major... yet, i want to be, but i would talk to your new band director. they should understand the situation and be able to help you... hopefully your new band director isn't a jerk and they'll back you up. if not then talk to him privatley when no one is around about how you feel. or you could be really dirastic and quit, but if your a band geek you probaly won't want to. i hope i helped

Well, I would talk to your new BD about the problem. I would just be like, hey, I've had problems in the past, but I am being optimistic and hope that you can help fix them (which is probably easier said than done). Okay, I reread that and it sounded snobbish. That is like a sentence about what a whole conversation would be, do don't say exactly that, make it sound nice. Most people would want to live up to the expectations of those depending on them, so let him/her know your feelings right away. A DM is supposed to be the BD's assistant, and if they don't treat them that way, it is really unfair. Hope everything works out!!!
