For solo and ensemble, my private lesson teacher wants me to start looking for a solo. Is there any certain way to go about this?

try typing "bass clarinet solo" into google and see what comes up. if you can't find anything you like that was originally for bass clarinet, you could always transpose a piece for bassoon or cello. you might even be able to just buy a transposition that someone already wrote. i know that bach cello suites have been transposed for almost every instrument.

We have a prescribed music list that states which solos you are allowed to perform. It's sorted into grades 1 (easy), 2 (medium) and 3 (hard). If your state has such a list you might want to spend some quality time with it and see if any titles catch your eye, if not then go down to your local music store and see what they have to offer- most have a section full of solos, ensembles and etude books. You may also be able to get one from an older bass in your band, if you have one and if they performed last year. Our band does that often.

The only bass clarinet that went last year hates me. I'll look up and see if there's a list. Ya I should have someone take me to the music store.
