Does your band have any tradition songs that you always play at annual concerts?
At our winter concert, my band always plays In the Bleak Midwinter and this AMAZING arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

In middle school summer band, we always did Hawaii 5-0. It our theme. And, at the end of every football game, we play malaguena.

In middle school we would always play Lets Go Band at the last concert. It's a tradition for the beginning band to play it as well.

When a director says "HEY BAND!" Everyone has to say "Hey what?" and get quiet imediatley. We also sing to birthday people after practice on there birthday. I can't think of more.

We have a whole flip folder of music that we play each year, great classics such as Old Time Rock and Roll, Louie Louie, and Iron Man

The ever-popular "Sleigh Ride." Your schoo has not been around long enough to have tradition. You just stole it from us. Anyway, our "classics"- Marching: 1000 Dances (doesn't everyone always play that though?) 25 or 6 to 4 And a nifty little playoffs halftime show called Trashcan Band. Concert: Winter= Sleigh Ride, Christmas Festival Spring= Seniors play Stars and Stripes Forever

When I was in high school, it was tradition for the Symphonic Band to play "Stars and Stripes" at the end-of-year concert. At least it WAS tradition, until my senior year in Symphonic band when the BD had us play Carmina Burana instead. I was not very happy about that.

My highschool plays Twas the Night before Christmas with one of the BD's narrating and the other conducting every two years or so... its such a nice song, theres a really kick-ass trumpet duet in it so i love it
my university has the marching band playing stuff in the town christmas parade, which is tradition...

For our winter concert, everyone performing (wind ensemble, concert choir, concert orchestra, bel canto choir, and vision choir) all get together and play Night of Silence. It's really pretty, but our band director gave it to us today. The concerts start on Thursday.

My old high school always closes the Christmas concert with A Christmas Festival. It's a great tradition, and it has (or had, I don't know what they do now) a bunch of individual traditions to go along with it (Trombones stand for O Come All Ye Faithful, throw confetti/blow bubbles/something on chime hits in Silent Night, specific way to sing Jingle Bells, etc.)

Has anyone ever heard the original orchestral version of christmas festival? It's amazing- and a LOT longer than the band version.
