the only think that really makes me angry about my car is that the gas pedal is REALLY REALLY TOUCHY. Its like i tap it lightly and i speed up to about 30 miles an hour.

My poor car is stuck in some random neighborhood by my school It decided it had had enough of this game we call "listen to me and drive home" and cut off its engine in the middle of the road. So now that it has so eloquently decided that such a action as to "start" is beneath it it is serving a period of time out until I can get a tow truck to drag it home.

^AAA is a wonderful thing- mine did that on a day wasn't *exactly* in a parking spot in the senior lot and a few days later my mom's fuel injector decided to die as well as her gas gauge.

Giving a miata a man's name is so wrong ahh... but see in my family automatic transmission = girl car, manual (stick) transmission = guy car. So my manual transmission miata gets a guy name.

Its dead My poor car committed suicide. The cylinders came into contact with the valves causing the engine to destroy its self. RIP KDD-1884

Aw, dude, I'm sorry. :\ I had that happen to me kind of recently...I was driving home from work and I was literally two minutes from my house when the damn thing stalled out on me. And I could smell something burning. So I pulled over, and turned it off, and it...wouldn't start. Which is a problem. I have AAA and it's been super useful to me, between getting three flat tires (it was the same tire three different times) and this incident. Ugh. I lucked out on this one, too. We thought it might be the timing belt ($700+). It was just some stupid wire ($24). Man, was that a break. I was so happy to get it back, too, 'cause driving my sister's car (my old car)...not pleasant.

in light of recent events it appears that I must change my car post... The new car: 2001 Ford Focus. I now have a car payment of $163 a month. I have yet to drive it enough to really get a feel for it. (I was handed the keys officially about 4 hours ago) But it has a high performance exhaust and air intake system and it sounds good. It is def. a step up from my old car.

Awww now it's time to introduce my baby! This is THE ShiftyMobile (yes we do call it that). It's like *old* now because it's a 2000 Toyota Celica. They don't even make these puppies anymore. It seats to adults in the front comfortably and two midgets in the back. On a bad day, it gets 29mpg in the city. I don't drive it enough on the highway to know how much it gets on there... but it's so much fun to zoom around people (and Memphis-style nonetheless. Passing is ALWAYS done on the right.) This is what my mom calls Black Beauty. It's my sister and I's college car seeing as Mother believes that we'll die if we go anywhere near the highway in it. As you can tell, this is the picture of it that we found doing our online shopping. All I know is that it's a 2007 Toyota Highlander and it eats gas (like 21mpg city and 26?mpg highway). Oh, and all of you complaining about paying $200 for parking: $600 for my sister. Then again it is for a private garage underneath her residence hall that you can only access if you have a card, but still $600.

Blargh. I have this odd idea of buying a brand-new car to go to college in (I know it's ridiculous but hear me out). After seeing my parents' cars die on them constantly (the whole rear differential on my dad's jeep randomly give out, his honda's electrical system try to give out, blah blah), I think it's probably worth it to buy a car brand new and service it regularly just to avoid the headache and incurred costs of driving a used car. I am, admittedly, a gearhead, and the temptation to modify them will be great, but if I can resist until the warranty runs out, I should be in good shape. My two ideas thus far, then, are these: The Scion xD. Sounds ridiculous to buy a Scion right out of high school but it only runs about fifteen grand for a manual and gets right about 30 mpg The Honda Fit. I've always loved Civic hatches (my dad has one), but since those are no more this is the closest thing. About fourteen grand, 30 mpg and being a descendant of the Civic, I can imagine it will last forever. While I'm sure others will come about, those are the cars I'm thinking about. Any advice?

i actually got behind the wheel of a Fit, and it ran really smoothly for me. I'm a huge fan of the hatches too, so of course I loved this car. I don't really remember much else (it was the day I drove the Pontiac Sunfire also, and that kinda stole all the RAM in my mind)

The other possibility that occured to me as I typed that is the offering from the third of the "big 3" Japanese car manufacturers (Scion is Toyota, and then Honda and Nissan), the Nissan Versa. But I don't want that.
