It's nearly one a.m., but I gotta post this...
We had our band award banquet thing tonight, and it was just so awesome.
First off, I didn't die during any of my speeches/blessings. In fact, I was pretty good.
I got to hang out on stage with my BD and make him feel old. He asked me if I thought I was old, and I said yeah, since I'm graduating and I'm 18 now. He was like, "You're 18?" And I said, "Yeah, last March was my birthday." And he kind of just tilted his head back and sighed/laughed because he thought he was getting up there in years then. I just thought it was funny.
Then my sister got the award that was in memorial of my BD's dad, who just passed away. And he was tearing up and then my sister started crying... in fact, most people were tearing up, it was just so touching. And she's probably the first freshman to receive that award.
And then I got the Band Director's Award. My BD started talking about what I did for the band, and how I'm usually happy and I never curse, and how I used to be really quiet but he's had to tell me to shut up a few times this year (yes, that is a compliment). And he hugged me and said thanks, and I wanted to cry from happiness. Seriously, I consider that award the highest honor in band, matched only by the Sousa award that students vote on. (The kid who got that award is a trumpet player. Basically, it was either him or me who would get the Sousa award- we're pretty equal. Once it was decided that he got that, my BD picked me for his award.) I actually prefer the one I got more, since it's my BD's choice.
Then we let my BD know about the donation the band made in his father's honor, and he started to cry, it was just so heart-warming.
And then we gave him the Senior gift- a poster of the band, softball gear (we were tired of using shoes as bases), some new sweatpants and shorts (since we're tired of seeing the same ones), and a scrapbook (which I made... well, the extra pages, like the front, back, random, and my page). And then we group hugged him.
Afterwards, I went up to the stage and gave my BD a copy of my speech about him at the Blue and Gold Banquet, and some photo shopped pictures of him with a fro. (He's been complaining about a bald spot lately.) And then I got another hug and was told thanks for everything and good luck, and that I have to come back and visit since band has been my life. Because it has been, and I'm really gonna miss my BD.

I have a death wish *grin* My bestest geeky friend and I are going paint-balling this weekend with a bunch of guys from my church. Neither of us have so much as watched a match live before. The paint comes out of the pointy part right? Even better... Tomorrow's my ONLY final! 16 hours or so and I'm done with high school!

Remember how I said I got the Director's Award? Well, I went visting to the band room today- Seniors have been out since last week. (Oh, and my BD wasn't there. He was in some kind of meeting or something. Loser.) And I saw the plaque where my name goes, and there's my name... right after my BD's daughter from last year... and my BD's son from two years ago...
I know that it doesn't really mean that much, but this makes me feel like I really am part of my BD's family.

I graduated today, and my valedictorian speech was pretty good apparently. Most people got the jokes and stuff. Apparently, when I mentioned the part about the band getting a "I" at States for the first time in the history of Airport and I said thanks to my BD, my BD just lit up. I wouldn't know, though, because I was locked to the podium.

Congrats to everyone who's graduated!
This past weekend I was at the International Space Development Conference in DC. Despite what it might sound like, it was actually incredibly awesome.
(And rather entertaining, as it turns out that the space advocacy movement has a *lot* of colorful characters in it)

The Red Wings just won the Stanley Cup! Anyone else laugh when Fleury (the Penguin goalie) went to sit down on the puck and ended up scoring for the Red Wings?

^ OMG, I second that!! I really wanted to watch the whole game, but I was ridiculously tired last night and fell asleep on the floor. Eventually I gave up and went to bed.
I'm at home! lol. I got to come home 2 hours early because I don't have a 5th hour, and this is our 5th hour exam period. So I'm pretty happy. That, and the fact that I'm pretty much done with school for the year. I'm so happy!!
